Maintenance and care

Regular care and maintenance will prolong the life of your new bicycle. You should carry out easy cleaning, servicing and
repair tasks yourself (see "5. Before and after your ride").
8.1

Bike inspection

DANGER
Risk of accident due to overdue maintenance and service!
When neglecting maintenance and servicing, worn components may cause accidents.
• The service works and intervals mentioned in this manual must be observed.
• Service and maintenance works must be carried out by the ROSE service or a qualified bicycle mechanic.
A bike inspection includes a complete check of all components. Servicing is required after a specific period of time or after
a certain amount of kilometres ridden, whichever comes first.
Components
Task
Entire bike
Check the torques of all bolts.
For torque values, see "8.4 Torques".
Visual inspection of all components.
Frame
Conduct a visual inspection of the frame
to check for damages such as cracks
and deformities, discoloration, as well as
chafing marks from cable casings or brake
hoses.
Suspension
Visual check for damages, such as cracks
fork / rear
and deformities, as well as discolourations.
shock
Light service, bearing in mind manufacturer
guidelines!
Major service, bearing in mind manufacturer
guidelines!
Headset
Disassemble the headset, clean, lubricate
and re-assemble it.
Replace bearings that don't run smoothly
or that show signs of corrosion.
Seat post
Disassemble the seat post, clean the seat
post and the frame's seat tube.
Coat the aluminium or carbon seat post
with assembly paste before mounting it in
a carbon frame.
Check the torque. For the saddle clamp
torque, see "8.4 Torques".
Handlebar /
Check the torque.
Stem
For torque values, see "8.4 Torques".
Brakes
Check the brake pads for wear.
→ The brake pad on the metal backing
plate must be at least 0.5 mm thick.
Check the brake rotors for wear.
→ Minimum thickness of brake rotors:
1.5 mm
Bleed the brakes / replace the brake fluid
