13. General remarks

13.1 Maintenance and cleaning

Inspection and maintenance should at least guarantee a
good and safe operation of the appliance.
Maintenance requiring the appliance to be disas-
sembled may only be performed by your installer!
Your appliance must be tested annually. This should
be done by a qualifi ed company.
Make sure the appliance is cooled down and dead before
you start cleaning or inspecting it.
We recommend that you regularly check the appliance for
the formation of dust and make it or have it made dust free
if necessary.
If necessary, the air inlet and air outlet can be cleaned with
the vacuum cleaner and a soft brush. In due time, dust be
accumulate on the inside of the glass pane. You can remove
the dust using a glass cleaner or a moist cloth (see remo-
ving glass pane). Do not use corrosive or abrasive agents
when cleaning the appliance. Damages to the paint, for
example as a result of placing objects on or against the ap-
pliance, are not covered by the warranty.

13.2 Thermal safety

A thermal cut-out is incorporated in the heating elements
in order to avoid overheating. This thermal cut-out can
switch off the heating when the hot air outlet is blocked
(see fi gure 1).
When cooled down, the heating element will switch on
again. If the thermal cut-out is activated with no reason, you
should contact your supplier.
After the heating element is switched off, the ventilator will
continue to rotate for a few seconds in order to cool the
element. Because of this feature, it is important that the
heating element is switched off by means of the remote
control, before the appliance is switched off with the main
switch. The main switch may only be used if the ventila-
tor has fi nished rotating, this will take approximately 30
seconds.

13.3 Disposal

For the most part, the packaging materials are fi t for
recycling. So do not throw them away with your
household rubbish, but make sure that they can be
recycled.
When replacing or removing the appliance, you must
observe the regulations that apply. Before you can
start disassembling the appliance, you should fi rst make it
dead by disconnecting the power cable or by switching off
the mains group to which your appliance is connected.
Old appliances contain valuable materials that can be recy-
p
cled, so please take your old appliances to a suitable
collection site.

13.4 Warranty

The warranty for your DRU appliance will be provided by
your supplier. In case of malfunctions, you should always
contact him. You supplier will contact DRU if he feels this is
necessary. The factory warranty for your appliance is valid for
2 years after date of purchase.

14. Malfunctions

It is highly unlikely that you will be confronted with mal-
functions, but in case there are any malfunctions we recom-
mend you to contact your supplier.
Possible malfunctions:
The appliance does have a fl ame effect and the ven-
tilator is also working, but there is no more hot air
coming from the appliance.
Maybe the thermal cut-out has been activated. After some
time the thermal cut-out will have cooled down, after
which the appliance will start generating heat again.
If the thermal cut-out is activated again straight away and
switches off the heating element, you should consult your
supplier.
The appliance has stopped working altogether.
Switch off the appliance using the switch, and check if both
fuses in the mains entrance have not blown. If the fuses
have blown, you can place new ones (two of 10 ampere
Slow). There are 2 back-up fuses in the holder that has a
double construction. The front fuses are back-up fuses If the
fuses blow again, you should contact your supplier.
Under no circumstances use fuses of more than 10 ampere.
This would have serious consequences in case of a short
circuit.
The hearth does not respond to the remote control.
Maybe the batteries of your remote control are empty,
insert new batteries. If the problem persists, contact your
supplier.
