11. Final Assembly of the Model Airplane
Before starting with the assembly of the model, you should prepare an appropriate surface to work on. In order to attain excellent flight performance, your model
is manufactured from a light plastic foam. The disadvantage of this material is the sensitive external surface. Small mistakes during assembly of the model can
quickly lead to unsightly bumps or even holes in the surface.
a) Checking the Aileron Settings
Before you mount the lower wings (1) check the aileron settings. Place
the fuselage (2) and the lower wings together with the aileron servo on
the working surface in such a manner that the servo connector cable (3)
can be connected easily to outlet 1(the lower outlet in the figure) of the
receiver(4).

Important!

Pay attention to the correct polarity of the servo plugs. You can
take orientation from the connectors which are already in place.
Then switch the transmitter on. Then open the latch of the front battery
case at the bottom of the model (fig. 5a, pos. 5) and open the lid (fig. 5b).
The rear battery compartment (fig. 5a, pos. 6) is intended for NiMH
rechargeable batteries, which are used by the standard geared motor
Christen Eagle. The brushless version does not require this
compartment, the compartment must remain fully closed at all times.
Remove the flight controller connector plug (7) (which is protected against
wrong polarity) and connect it with the 2 pin connection (8) on the
rechargeable flight battery (9). The 4 pin balancer connector (10) on the
rechargeable battery is not used.
If the motor rotation speed control stick (fig. 2, pos. 10) is in the lowest
setting (motor off), the controller initially emits two sounds, then 5 short
signal tones.
Now check the functioning of the middle setting of the aileron. If the control
stick (fig. 2, pos. 4) and the trim lever (fig. 2, pos. 5) for the aileron are not
moved and are sitting in the middle setting, the servo lever (11) should
stand at a 90° angle to the two steering linkages (12). Only if this is the
case, will an equidistant aileron extension be possible in both directions.
If necessary, the fastener screw for the servo lever can be screwed out,
the servo lever can be moved upwards and be turned lobe by lobe to the
correct position, placed back in position and screwed tight again. Only
do this when the receiver unit is switched off!
The end rails of the aileron (13) must then sit flush with the wind end rail
(14). If the rudder flap is set too high or too low, open the appropriate
clevis (12) and turn the clevis to set the linkage to the appropriate length.
When the setting of the aileron is complete, disconnect the rechargeable
flight battery from the flight controller and then switch off the transmitter.
