8. Assembling the model

Before assembling the model, please read through each individual section carefully. The construction phases are illustrated for better understanding.
Please note that the numbers in the text always refer to the components in the illustration to the right.
Only carry out the described steps in the individual sections if you have completely understood the procedure and know exactly what to pay
attention to.
a) Assembling the wing
The fuselage, the wings and the tail units are made of polystyrene foam. Foam
residues must be smoothed using medium coarse sand paper. Assemble the
wing centre section and the outer wings and check if they can be glued together
without gaps.
Glue two wing connectors to the bottom of the wing centre section (1) (see
illustration 2, pos. 6). When the glue has hardened, glue the two outer wings
(2) to the wing centre section. Make sure that the parts are glued together gap-
free and that the contours of the wing centre section and the outer wings match
exactly.
Secure both parts with adhesive tape until the glue has hardened.
Attach a wing connector to the wing top. Use 5-minute epoxy glue. Illustration
3, pos. A and B.
For the outer wing attachment, use 5-minute epoxy glue to attach a counter
bearing each into the recesses in the wing centre section on the left and on the
right (see illustration 2, pos. 2).
When the glue has hardened, mark the exact centre of the wooden piece, pre-
drill a hole using a 1.2mm drill and screw in a hook. The end of the hook must
point outwards (arrow), see illustration 3, pos. C and D.
b) Installing wing support and motor holder
Use 5-minute epoxy glue to attach the wing support (see illustration 2, pos. 3)
to the bottom of the wing. Illustrations A and B.
Use 5-minute epoxy glue to attach the motor holder to the wing top. Illustrations
C and D. The motor holder consists of two side parts and a 3mm spar (see
illustration 2, pos. 1).
