automatic, manual and the possibility of pre-programming the limit switch at
the factory during the series production of roller shutters/awnings.
Although the Max line of tubular motors can guarantee a maximum continuous
operating time of 4 minutes, they are generally designed for residential use
and therefore discontinuous. Therefore if it overheats (for example due to con-
tinuous use) a "thermal protection" automatically cuts in disconnecting the
power supply and restoring the system as soon as the temperature drops to
the normal value.
CONTROL AND EVALUATE INSTALLATION
1.2
FEASIBILITY
Caution! – Check the integrity of the product's components, the adequa-
cy of the chosen model and the suitability of the location where the instal-
lation is to be made before starting installation.
• By comparing the technical characteristics of the product (nominal torque,
rotation speed and operating time indicated on the product) with the environ-
mental and particular restrictions of the roller shutter/awning, choose one of
the Max-Motor models suitable for the type of roller shutter/awning involved.
• Assess the following restrictions before fitting the tubular motor inside the
roller of the roller shutter/awning:
– for motors with a torque of up to 35 Nm (inclusive), the minimum internal
diameter of the roller must be at least 52 mm;
– for motors with a torque of over 35 Nm, the minimum internal diameter of
the roller must be at least 60 mm.
• Make sure there is sufficient space in front of the awning for it to be fully
opened before installing it.

Installation and wiring
INSTALL THE AUTOMATION'S
2.1
COMPONENTS
Caution! – The automation must be installed by qualified Technical Per-
sonnel in accordance with the present instructions and with the present
safety standards. Incorrect installation may cause injury to the people
performing the installation.
Caution! – In order to start with the installation of Free-Max, the motor
6 – English
casing of Max-Motor must be available for the initial assembly of the
two parts.
Caution! – Before starting installation, ensure there are no pieces of poly-
styrene or other materials inside Max-Motor: if so, remove them.
Proceed as follows for installation:
01. Peel off the label hanging from Free-Max and stick it on the back of the
manual (cover).
Caution! – This label is very important (see paragraph 15.2).
02. (Fig. 3) Insert Free-Max [B] into tube [A], firstly aligning the two holes a1
and b1, and then pushing the electronic head until it engages the bottom.
Then connect the two parts together via the HI-LO, 4 x 8, stub screw sup-
plied, through hole a1. Caution! – if another screw is used it could also be
a source of danger in addition to permanently damaging Free Max.
03. (Fig. 4) Insert stop crown [C] onto tube [A] and slide it onto stop ferrule [D],
aligning points c1 and d1 so that the crown is blocked and in contact.
04. (Fig. 5) Engage drive wheel [E] onto the self-locking mechanism of the
drive shaft, aligning the corresponding arrows (Note – push the "Push"
button to release the wheel and disengage it). Then measure distance C-E
and make note of it.
05. (Fig. 6) Introduce the tubular motor into the roller, up to the end of limit
switch crown [C]. Then mark measurement C-E, that was previously taken,
on the roller and screw a self-tapping screw of at least 10 mm into point e1.
This fixes drive wheel [E] to the roller thereby avoiding possible slipping or
movement of the motor.
06. Finally, fix the support bracket to the wall and hook the end of Free-Max.

WIRING

2.2
Caution! – incorrect wiring can cause faults or hazardous situations.
Therefore strictly observe the instructions given in this manual; if in doubt, do
not make pointless attempts but consult the technical specifications that are
also available at the following Internet address: www.niceforyou.com .
Free-Max has a 3-core cable that is used to connect the motor to the mains
power supply:
• Brown: = Phase
• Blue: = Neutral
• Green-Yellow: = Earth
Important – wiring must only be made using an omnipolar cut-out switch
