● Pay attention to the distance from the end of the pipe to the chuck. The
cleaning spiral can whiplash if the distance is too great (> 200 mm). There is a
risk of injury!
● Do not use drive units with quick stop. If the drive unit is shut down immediately,
the vibration torque of the still moving spiral drum (10) can knock over the unit.

Weighted effective value of acceleration
The indicated weighted effective value of acceleration has been measured
against standard test procedures and can be used by way of comparison with
another device. The indicated weighted effective value of acceleration can also
be used as a preliminary evaluation of the exposure.
CAUTION
CAUTION
The indicated weighted effective value of acceleration can differ during opera-
tion from the indicated value, dependent on the manner in which the device is
used. Dependent upon the actual conditions of use (periodic duty) it may be
necessary to establish safety precautions for the protection of the operator.

2. Start-up
2.1. Electrical connection
WARNING
WARNING
Caution: Mains voltage present! Before connecting the power tool, check
whether the voltage given on the rating plate corresponds to the mains voltage.
On building sites, in a wet environment, indoors and outdoors or under similar
installation conditions, only operate the power tool on the mains with a fault
current protection switch (FI switch) which interrupts the power supply as soon
as the leakage current to earth exceeds 30 mA for 200 ms.
2.2. Mounting the pipe cleaning spiral in the spiral drum (10)
When a new pipe cleaning spiral is mounted, this must be bent approx. 45°
about 50 mm before the rear end of the spiral and then pushed through the
open chuck (5) / thrust gear (11) into the spiral drum so that the pipe cleaning
spiral winds up in clockwise direction looking though the end opening of the
spiral drum (10). Push in the pipe cleaning spiral until the club head (6) protrudes
approx. 200 mm from the chuck (5) / thrust gear (11).
3. Operation
3.1. Operation REMS Mini-Cobra A
CAUTION
CAUTION
Only operate the electric pipe cleaning machine with both hands, always grip
the thrust handle (1) and switch handle (2) tightly. Note reaction torque of the
drive unit on the spiral drum (10) when switching on and off! Start the electric
pipe cleaning machine preferably at low speed and increase slowly as required.
Pull out the pipe cleaning spiral Ø 8 mm or Ø 10 mm approx. 150 mm. For pipe
cleaning spiral Ø 8 mm, turn the thrust handle (1) to the stop, for the pipe
cleaning spiral Ø 10 mm until it meets a resistance and then turn it further
approximately one revolution. Set the direction of rotation switch (3) to the arrow
in the direction of the spiral drum (10) to feed the pipe cleaning spiral into the
pipe. The arrow direction corresponds to the feed direction of the pipe cleaning
spiral. With the adjusting wheel on the safety inching switch (4) the speed can
be limited from the lowest stage A to the highest stage F. Press the safety
inching switch (4) lightly so that the spiral drum (10) turns, then increase the
speed slowly as required. If the cleaning spiral meets a resistance, the speed
may have to be reduced or the electric pipe cleaning machine switched off, set
the direction of rotation switch (3) to the arrow in the direction of the switch
handle (2) so that the feed direction can be reversed. After clearing the blockage,
switch off the electric pipe cleaning machine, set the direction of rotation switch
(3) to the arrow in the direction of the swit6ch handle (2) to retract the pipe
cleaning spiral from the pipe. The electric pipe cleaning machine must be
switched off about 200 mm before the club head (6) reaches the thrust gear
(11). After cleaning work, the thrust handle (1) must be released for transport
and the pipe cleaning spiral must be pushed back by hand into the spiral drum
(10) up to just before the stop of the club head (6) on the thrust gear (11).
CAUTION
CAUTION
The pipe cleaning spiral can whiplash if the distance between the end of the
pipe/drain and the thrust gear (11) is too great (danger of injury)!
NOTICE
NOTICE
Only push the pipe cleaning spiral into the pipe to an extent that at least two
windings remain in the spiral drum (10) when cleaning. If the pipe cleaning
spiral is pushed further, the motor can no longer retract the spiral. The pipe
cleaning spiral then has to be pushed back into the spiral drum (10) about 2
windings by hand. Then the automatic return starts working again.
The club head (6) formed on the pipe cleaning spiral may never be allowed to
get into the thrust gear (11) because otherwise the pipe cleaning spiral will be
damaged.
3.2. Operation REMS Mini-Cobra
Pull the pipe cleaning spiral approx. 300 mm out of the spiral drum (10), tighten
the chuck (5) by hand and insert the spiral into the pipe to be cleaned. Hold
the handle (7) tight and turn the spiral drum (10) clockwise by turning the crank
(8) with your other hand. Only insert the pipe cleaning spiral into the pipe to an
extent that the chuck (5) can still be operated by hand. Open the chuck (5) and
pull the pipe cleaning spiral about 300 mm back out of the spiral drum (10).
Repeat the process until you can feel a resistance or the blockage is cleared.
Pull back the pipe cleaning spiral by hand and push it back into the spiral drum.
3.3. Operation of REMS Mini-Cobra with a suitable electric drill/electric screw-
driver
If an electric drill/electric screwdriver is used to drive the REMS Mini-Cobra,
make sure that this is equipped with a continuous electronic speed control
(0 – 550 rpm). Remove the crank (8). Connect the electric drill/screwdriver with
drill chuck to the hexagonal driver (9).
CAUTION
CAUTION
Do not use an electric drill/screwdriver with quick stop! If the drive unit is
shut down immediately, the vibration torque of the still moving spiral drum (10)
can knock over the unit.
