WARNING
To safeguard the environment, we urge you to
recover the packaging cardboard and separate it
from the plastic.

4. Precaution on handling

To handle the unit, when packaged, use a forklift truck
or a system of straps or ropes. When unpackaged, refer
to the weight of the unit indicated on its data plate. If
the holes arranged for unit handling are present, it must
be handled by using lifting devices with the insertion of
eyebolts.
5. Components and
operating principle
ELDON air conditioners are units designed for cool-
ing electrical cabinets with IP54 or IP55 protection
rate, depending on the declared protection rate, and
are suitable for operation in industrial environments.
Their use enables to remove problems due to the high
temperatures of the panel/cabinet and prevents dirt
and dust in the environment from entering the panel/
cabinet.

Operating principle
The unit consists of two separate sections, in this way
the room air circuit and the cabinet air circuit remain
separate without mixing together. Heat transfer takes
place via a watertight refrigerant circuit in which the
refrigerant circulates. The system functions as fol-
lows: the compressor (CO) compresses the refrigerant
gas and takes it at a higher temperature and pressure.
The hot gas, by passing through the condenser (BC), is
cooled and liquefied, thus releasing heat into the out-
door air. Pushed through the capillary (CP) or the ther-
mostatic valve (VT), the refrigerant liquid loses pres-
sure, thus preparing for evaporation. This occurs inside
the evaporator (EV), where the refrigerant absorbs the
heat of the internal hot air, thus cooling it. A gas filter
(FG) ensures an effective protection against humidity,
dirt particles and foreign bodies inside the circuit. [HP:
high pressure switch, TR: temperature adjustment]. The
components of the refrigerant circuit are connected by
copper pipes welded in order to ensure an excellent
seal.
The hydraulic diagram of the unit can be found in chap-
ter "Appendix A".
Components
Structure: the units are constructed with self-support-
ing panels, in galvanized and painted sheet metal to
ensure a good resistance against corrosion (suitable
only for non-corrosive and saline environments). In
this way they make the unit easy to inspect and, at the
same time, provide adequate protection to the inter-
nal components. Aluminium side profiles may be pre-
sent in some units. The internal components of the unit
are accessible by only removing the external cladding
panels by extracting their fixing screws.
Refrigerant: the refrigerant used is R134a (HCF). It is
neither toxic, nor inflammable and not harmful to the
ozone layer.
Condenser: it is the component that enables disposal
of heat from the refrigerant gas to the external environ-
ment. It may consist of an exchange pack with copper
pipes and aluminium fins or of an aluminium Micro-
Channels type with copper connections towards the
refrigerant circuit (only suitable for non-corrosive and
saline environments).
Gas filter: it is of mixed mechanical/chemical type
useful to separate moisture particles from the refriger-
ant that passes through it.
Capillary or thermostatic valve: it is the component
that causes the refrigerant pressure to drop in its path
towards the evaporator. The thermostatic valve is cali-
brated in production and must not be tampered with
