• Toxic substances: the gas contained in this unit is of
ecological type and is called R134a (Tetrafluoroeth-
ane). It is present in reduced quantities and the refrig-
erant circuit is completely sealed. During testing, all
leaks exceeding 3 grams per year are checked and
removed. The refrigerant gas manufacturer declares
that gas concentrations less than 1/1000 are harm-
less. If the unit is not installed in ventilated or of ade-
quate size rooms and a rapid loss of refrigerant is
detected, it is recommended to remove the opera-
tors and ventilate the room.
Managers must be informed on potential risks exist-
ing in the system and control the electrical equipment
personnel. This control consists in locating possible risk
conditions and investigate the problems encountered
by personnel during maintenance. Each defective
component must be repaired or replaced immediately.
The manager must insist on the use of safety measures
