Introduction

1.1

General remarks

The present manual for the DBL-S sliding door drive unit:
- supplies precise instructions regarding the assembly, the commissioning, the maintenance and troubleshooting.
- is destined for the qualified and specialized personnel from the metal construction and electrotechnical trades.
- uses the following signs in order to point out certain dangers and important remarks:
- Uses in the following text the abbreviation "DBL-S" as a designation for:
Sliding door drive unit (DBL = type of drive unit, S = Sliding door);
- Uses a consecutive numbering of the elements, which means that in all the illustrations the same element is
always identified by the same position number.

Safety

- The DBL-S has been designed on the basis of the latest state-of-the-art technology, taking into account the
applicable laws, standards and regulations (particularly ZH 1/494, VDE 0700 T238, FCOS).
- When mounting the DBL-S for sliding doors, the relevant EU regulations as well as the safety prescriptions valid
in the country of application have to be observed.
- It is forbidden to use the DBL-S outside of the defined application limits.
- Modifications of the drive unit, the control module or the supplied safety elements are not permissible without prior
consent of the manufacturer.
- Should any malfunctions occur which are detrimental to the safety of the installation, the latter must be taken out
of operation until the problem has been successfully eliminated by a specialist and the safety can again be fully
guaranteed.

When commissioning the installation, all the safety
elements have to be checked with regard to their
faultless functioning.
In order to guarantee the safety of the door users and a
perfect operation of the installation during its entire service
life, it is absolutely necessary to check and maintenance it at
regular intervals, at least once a year.
A faultless functioning of the Kaba Gilgen products can only be
guaranteed on condition that they are used in conjunction with
the original Kaba Gilgen accessories (control elements,
safety elements....), otherwise Kaba Gilgen declines all
responsibility for a safe and reliable functioning of the installation.
