Matelassez avec le pied universel des lignes droites
d'un écart de 1 cm sur toute la surface. Réduisez
éventuellement légèrement la tension du fil supérieur
afin que le fil inférieur puisse après être mieux tiré
pour plisser le tissu.
Nouez les fils sur un côté.
Tirez sur le fil inférieur et répartissez les fronces régu-
lièrement. Fixez les fils sur l'autre côté.
Réduisez la tension du fil et cousez éventuellement
des points décoratifs entre les lignes droites.
Retirez les fils des lignes de plissage.

Use the all purpose foot to sew straight lines 1 cm
(3/8") apart, across the area. It may be helpful to
reduce the needle thread tension slightly, so that
the bobbin thread may be drawn later to gather the
fabric.
Knot the threads along one edge.
Pull the bobbin threads and distribute the gathers
evenly. Secure the threads at the other end.
Reduce the tension, if necessary and sew decorative
pattern stitches between the straight seams.
Pull out the gathering stitches.
