Alarm Messages

Various messages appear on the monitor screen ("Err" appears in the display window). Check them with the
following list.
Message
PLEASE CONFIRM THE SAFETY SWITCH
OF THE CASSETTE
NO CASSETTE MEMORY
VCR IS RECORDING
PLEASE INSERT A NEW CASSETTE
THE TAPE IS REWOUND
PLEASE REWIND OR INSERT A NEW CASSETTE
PLEASE SET THE CLOCK
THIS PROGRAM IS COPYRIGHT PROTECTED
CASSETTE MEMORY IS TOO LARGE TO ERASE
WRITING ON CASSETTE MEMORY. PLEASE WAIT
VCR IS IN DUP MODE
Meaning / Remedy
Check that the protect tab is slid in so that the red portion visible.
t Slide back the safety switch (see page 4) .
You try to erase cassette memory when there is no cassette
memory.
You press a certain operation button during recording or editing.
Though no cassette is inserted in the cassette compartment, you
press N PLAY, etc. t Insert a cassette.
You press m REW at the beginning of the tape.
You try to start playback or recording at the tape end.
t Rewind the tape or insert a new cassette.
When turning on the power, the clock has not been set.
t Set the clock in the menu (see page 34) .
You try to dub the tape on which copyright protect signals are
recorded.
You try to erase "INDEX DATA," "DATE DATA," or "PHOTO
DATA" on a tape having more than 16 Kbits memory capacity.
t Erase "ALL DATA" on the tape (see page 34) .
You do certain operation while the VCR is writing on cassette
memory.
t Operate after writing on cassette memory is complete.
You press a certain operation button during duplicate.
