General Power Tool Safety Warnings

WARNING
WARNING
Read all the safety notes, instructions, illustrations and technical data which
come with this soldering torch. Failure to heed the following instructions can lead
to fi re and/or severe injuries.
Keep all safety notes and instructions for the future.
● Only use the soldering torch for the intended purpose and under observance
of the general safety and accident prevention rules. There is a danger of
accident.
● Keep your workplace clean and well lit. Untidiness or poorly lit working areas
can lead to accidents.
● Avoid dangerous ambient infl uences (e.g. infl ammable liquids or gases).
There is a risk of fi re and explosion.
● Do not expose the soldering torch to rain. Do not use the soldering torch
in a wet or damp environment. Store the soldering torch in a dry and safe
place. This will extend the life of the soldering torch.
● Wear suitable clothing. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep hair,
clothing and gloves away from the soldering torch fl ame. Loose clothes,
jewellery or long hair can catch fi re easily.
● Wear personal safety equipment and always wear safety glasses. Wearing
personal safety equipment such as a dust mask, non-slip safety shoes, a safety
helmet or ear protectors, depending on the type and application of the tool,
reduces the risk of injuries.
● Keep children and other persons away when using the soldering torch.
Distractions can lead to you losing control of the soldering torch.
● Securely clamp the workpiece. Do not hold it in your hand. Workpiece
clamping simplifi es the work and reduces the risk of injury by burning.
● Avoid abnormal body posture. Make sure that you have a fi rm footing and
keep your balance at all times. You then have better control over the soldering
torch in unexpected situations.
● Avoid unintentional switching on. Make sure that the soldering torch is
switched off before connecting it to the gas cylinder or carrying it. Holding
your fi nger on the push button (1) while carrying the soldering torch or connecting
it to a gas cylinder can lead to accidents.
● Do not overload soldering torch. Use the soldering torch that is suitable for
the work you are doing. You can work better and safer in the specifi ed power
range with the suitable soldering torch.
● Check your soldering torch occasionally for damage and to see that it is
operating correctly. Do not use the soldering torch if it is damaged.
● Have worn and damaged parts replaced immediately by qualifi ed technical
personnel. This ensures that the safety of the soldering torch is maintained.
● Do not make unauthorised changes to your soldering torch. This is not
allowed for safety reasons.
● Have the soldering torch repaired only by qualifi ed technical personnel and
only with genuine spare parts. This ensures that the safety of the soldering
torch is maintained.
Safety instructions for the turbo soldering torch
WARNING
WARNING
Read all the safety notes, instructions, illustrations and technical data which
come with this soldering torch. Failure to heed the following instructions can lead
to fi re and/or severe injuries.
Keep all safety notes and instructions for the future.
● Ignite the REMS Blitz/REMS Macho and burn while pressing the push button
(1). Prevent accidental starting. Close the gas cylinder valve immediately
after use and allow the remaining gas from the burner and the hose to burn
off. This will prevent any accidental starting.
● Whether or not the REMS Blitz/REMS Macho is in operation, never direct
the burner tube towards yourself or any other person. This reduces the risk
of injury by burns.
● When working outdoors, note that the fl ame may be invisible in bright
sunshine and that soldering must only be done "downwind" in windy
weather conditions. This reduces the risk of injury by burns.
● Remove fl ammable substances and any containers fi lled with fl ammable
liquids from the working area before carrying out soldering operations.
There is a risk of fi re and explosion.
● Never allow the REMS Blitz/REMS Macho to operate unattended while the
push button (1) is pressed down and the knob (2) is snapped into position.
Turn off the REMS Blitz/REMS Macho during longer breaks – close the gas
cylinder valve and allow the remaining gas from the burner and the hose
to burn off. Soldering torches can cause hazards which lead to material damage
and/or injury when left unattended.
6
● Allow the REMS Blitz/REMS Macho burner pipe as well as heated parts to
cool down for a longer time before touching them. Touching parts that are
still hot during the cooling phase can cause severe burns. The burner pipe and
heated parts need a longer time to cool down.
● Protect persons accompanying the work from hot parts. This reduces the
risk of injury.
● Never heat containers that contain or have contained infl ammable liquids.
Empty or almost empty containers of this type in particular may contain
highly explosive gas mixtures. There is a risk of fi re and explosion.
● Use only refractory bricks if you place the workpiece on a surface for
soldering. Bricks, concrete blocks, etc. can explode under extreme heat.
● Wear eye protection and, if necessary, skin protection. Use of personal
protective equipment reduces the risk of injury.
● Work only in a well aired environment! Do not inhale gases and fumes that
are produced during soldering. Gases and fumes can be harmful to health.
● Keep a fi re extinguisher handy. This can be used to extinguish any fi re outbreak
before serious damage occurs.
● Check the REMS Blitz/REMS Macho gas hoses, gas cylinders and gas
cylinder valves from time to time for any damage or leaks and replace them
if necessary. Use only appropriate accessories. This ensures that the safety
of the soldering torch is maintained.
● Gas cylinders contain liquid gas and under high pressure. Keep them away
from heat. Keep them in a secure, upright position to prevent them from
falling over. Observe the safety and accident prevention regulations as well
as safety data sheets when handling propane or acetylene. Failure to do so
will cause a risk of fi re and explosion.
● Observe local and national regulations for the transport and storage of gas
cylinders.
● Children and persons who, due to their physical, sensory or mental abilities
or lack of experience and knowledge are unable to operate the soldering
torch safely must not use this soldering torch without supervision or
instruction by a responsible person. Otherwise there is a risk of operating
errors and injuries.
● Only allow trained persons to use the soldering torch. Apprentices may only
operate the soldering torch when they are older than 16, when this is necessary
for their training and under the supervision of a trained operative.
