2. Setting up
2.1. REMS Blitz (Fig. 1)
Keep the gas cylinder in a secure position to prevent it from falling over. Close
valve of gas bottle. Use adjustable pressure governor (1 to 4 bar). The use of
fi xed pressure governors (e. g. 1.5 bar) is possible, however the burner does
not produe the full power. Connect approved gas hose to the gas bottle and to
the screwed nozzie (3) of the gas burner. (Attention! Both sides have left hand
threads G ⅜").
WARNING
WARNING
Set the gas pressure to 1 bar. Check the system for leaks!
2.2. REMS Macho (Fig. 2)
Keep the gas cylinder in a secure position to prevent it from falling over. Use
an adjustable pressure regulator (0 to 2.5 bar). Use fl ame arrester. For acety-
lene, connect approved gas hose to the gas cylinder or fl ame arrester and the
threaded connection (3) of the acetylene soldering torch.
WARNING
WARNING
G ⅜" left-handed thread in each case. Set gas pressure to 1 bar. Check system
tightness!
3. Operation
Use eye protection
3.1. REMS Blitz (Fig. 1)
Open gas cylinder valve. If necessary, set gas pressure as specifi ed in 1.6.
The valve incorporated in the gas burner is opened by pressing the soldering
torch push button (1). Simultaniously the spark generator (Piezo igniter) produces
a spark into the burn pipe igniting the gas. Particularly with fresh connections
repeated use of trigger is sometimes necessary until the air in the hose has
vanished.
If the push button is released, the valve incorporated into the gas burner cuts
off the gas supply and the fl ame goes out.
When trigger is pulled and snap-in locking (2) activated, the trigger can be
released and the burner functions independently. Through renewed use of the
trigger the snap-in locking is de-activated. lf the trigger is released the fl ame is
extinguished.
During the soft solder process the tip of the fl ame cone should be kept off
the material by about 10 to 15 mm. lf necessary the fl ame size can be reduced
by decreasing the gas pressure.
NOTICE
NOTICE
Reduce gas pressure only as far that the minimum length of the fl ame cone
stays at 8 mm.With a shorter fl ame, the soldering torch (spark generator) will
be damaged.
CAUTION
CAUTION
After use close valve of gas bottle and burn-off the remaining gas from hose
and burner.

4. Maintenance
4.1. Maintenance
4.2. Inspection/Repair
Open gas cylinder valve. If necessary, set gas pressure as specifi ed in 1.6.
The valve incorporated in the gas burner is opened by pressing the soldering
torch push button (1). At the same time the spark generator (piezo igniter) inputs
a spark into the burner pipe and the gas ignites. During the ignition there is a
loud crack, which does not affect the operation. When reconnecting in particular,
it may be necessary to press the push button repeatedly until the air in the hose
has escaped.
If the push button is released, the valve incorporated into the gas burner cuts
off the gas supply and the fl ame goes out.
If the knob (2) is pressed when the push button is operated, the burner will
continue burning automatically if the push button is released. Pressing the push
button again releases the ratchet. If the push button is released now, the fl ame
goes out.
For hard soldering the tips of the fl ame corona must touch the workpiece. For
soft soldering the tips of the fl ame corona must be from 10 to 30 mm away
from the workpiece, depending on tube size.
NOTICE
NOTICE
Do not decrease the gas pressure and always press the push button (1)
completely in, otherwise the reduced fl ame will damage the burner pipe and
spark generator.
CAUTION
CAUTION
Before taking out of operation, close the gas cylinder valve and allow the
remaining gas from the hose and burner to burn off.
For brazing use REMS Lot P6 (Art. No. 160220). Copper pipes- and fi ttings
do not need to be treated with fl ux, but should be clean. With other materials,
e.g. brass, fl ux can be necessary.
For soft solder use REMS Lot Cu 3 (Art. No. 160200). Copper pipes- and
soft solder
soft solder use REMS Lot Cu 3 (Art. No. 160200). Copper pipes- and
fi ttings must be clean. For the preparation of the solder point put REMS Paste
Cu 3 (Art. No. 160210) onto the pipe. This paste contains solder powder and
fl ux. The advantages of this paste are that the required temperature for soldering
is visible through the change of colour of the paste and that a better fi lling of
the soldering point is gained. In any case however REMS Lot Cu 3 has to be
added. REMS Lot Cu 3 and REMS Paste Cu 3 have been specially developped
for drinking water installations and corespond to the respective DIN standards.
WARNING
WARNING
Before maintenance work, close the gas cylinder valve and allow the
remaining gas from the hose and soldering torch to burn off.
Clean the REMS Blitz/REMS Macho regularly, especially when it has not been
in use for a long time. Check the REMS blitz/REMS Macho, gas hoses, gas
cylinders and valves for damage and leaks before every use. Replace damaged
parts.
Clean plastic parts (e.g. housing) only with REMS CleanM machine cleaner
(Art. No. 140119) or a mild soap and a damp cloth. Do not use household
cleaners. These often contain chemicals which can damage the plastic parts.
Never use petrol, turpentine, thinner or similar products for cleaning.
Make sure that fl uids can never get inside the REMS Blitz/REMS Macho. Never
immerse REMS Blitz/REMS Macho in liquid.
WARNING
WARNING
Before repair work, close the gas cylinder valve and allow the remaining
gas from the hose and soldering torch to burn off. This work may only be
performed by qualifi ed personnel.
