9 Switching Pole Pruning On and Off
9.1

Switching on the Pole Pruner

► Hold the pole pruner with one hand by the control handle
– wrap your thumb around the control handle.
► Hold the pole pruner firmly with your other hand by the
handle hose - wrap your thumb around the handle hose.
► Push the release slide (1) in the direction of the saw chain
with your thumb and hold it there.
► Press the trigger (3) with your index finger and keep
depressed.
The motor is accelerated and the saw chain rotates. You
can let go of the release slide (1).
If the Ergo lever (2) is pressed, the trigger (3) remains
unlocked. This means the trigger can be released and
depressed again without having to push the release slide in
the direction of the saw chain once more.
If the trigger (3) and the Ergo lever (2) are released, the
trigger (3) is locked. The release slide (1) must be pushed
towards the saw chain again and held to unlock the trigger
(3).
9.2

Switching the Pole Pruner Off

► Release the trigger and the Ergo lever.
► Wait until the saw chain comes to a complete standstill
after about 1 second.

► If the saw chain continues to run after about 1 second:
Remove the battery and contact your STIHL dealer for
assistance.
The pole pruner has a malfunction.

10 Checking Pole Pruner and Battery

10.1 Checking the Chain Sprocket

► Switch off the pole pruner and remove the battery.

► Remove the chain sprocket cover.

► Remove the guide bar and saw chain.

► Use a STIHL gauge to check the wear marks on the chain
sprocket.
► If the wear marks are deeper than a = 0.5 mm: Do not use
your pole pruner and contact your STIHL dealer for
assistance.
The chain sprocket must be replaced.

10.2 Checking the Guide Bar

► Switch off the pole pruner and remove the battery.
► Remove the saw chain and guide bar.
