Device description

The bus coupler can be operated on a programmable logic
controller (PLC) using the CANopen field bus protocol. An
advantage of serial control is saving parallel output cards in the
PLC and ne-cessary cabling.
A maximum of 32 valve solenoids (16 valves) can be connected
per bus coupler.

The CAN bus system

The real time and multimaster-capable CAN (Controller Area
Network) serial bus system, originally developed for the
automotive industry, is now also used in industrial automation.
Depending on the transfer rate, network extensions of 40 m at
1000 kBaud up to 1000 m at 50 kBaud can be implemented.
As the physical transfer from CAN is similar to an open common
collector circuit, all participants that are ready to send can start
their transfer at the same time, provided there is an identifier
(address) at the beginning. The CAN controller hardware only
enables the device with the lowest identifier to complete its
