4.3.1 Inserting the Control Unit into the
Docking Station
Before inserting the Control Unit into the slot of the Dock-
ing Station all cables must be removed from the Control
Unit including the mains cable.
Connect the mains cable and the USB cable to the back of
the Docking Station, as well as all other transducer con-
nectors if not already the case.
Be sure to have the power switch turned to off, before
inserting the Control Unit into the slot.
Gently push the Control Unit into the slot of the Docking
Station until you feel a certain resistance and then push a
bit harder to insert the multi-connector sockets into each
other until the Control Unit is fully inserted. Make sure it is
not tilted and all the way in before turning on the power
switch (I)
Once the power switch is turned to ON (I) both the
"Power" and "Docked" lights should light up on the front
side of the Control Unit. If the Docked-light (blue) does
not light up, switch off the power again and push the
Control Unit into the Docking Station again. Check espe-
cially whether the Control Unit has been fully inserted
without tilting it. Push the Control Unit separately on each
side into the slot as shown in the figure above.

4.4 Installing the Unity 2 system

4.4.1 Connecting to a computer

If you connect the Unity 2 system to a computer for the first time, first of all the Unity USB driver has
to be installed. To install the driver the Unity 2 system must be connected to the computer.
The USB cable coming from the Unity 2 system must never be connected to a secondary hub, but
always directly to the computer. Also do not use the USB ports on the Docking Station of the computer.
For connecting the Unity 2 system to a computer, which complies to the IEC 60950 safety standard for IT devices,
a standard USB cable is appropriate. The length of the cable should not exceed 5 meters. A suitable USB cable with a
length of 5 m is included in the shipment.

4.4.2 Connecting the Unity 2 to an unsafe device

For connecting to a mains powered device which does not comply to the IEC 60950 or IEC 60601-1 standard galvani-
cally separated connections must be used to connect to the unsafe device.
For connection of the Unity 2 system to a mains-powered CD player or any other mains-powered audio-device use
a commercially available NF-transformer with a dielectric voltage resitance of minimum 3000 V.
