- Application of precision fine boring tool
with other accessories everything
except for tool holders 6 to 16 mm
(.236 – .63") diameter
With the help of the heavy metal thread
pin it is possible to reduce precision
fine boring tool unbalance, but first
both the size and location of the resi-
dual unbalance of the tool must be
known. Since the size and location of
the residual unbalance can vary greatly,
depending on the accessories being
used (e.g. insert holders or serrated
tool body), it will usually be necessary
to carry out a measurement on a balan-
cing machine. To reduce any residual
unbalance, fit the heavy metal thread
pin as shown in fig. 3a or fig. 3c.

5. Operation

Securing the tool holders
Firstly, make sure you choose the most
suitable tool holder for the boring diame-
ter. The 16 mm (.63") diameter locating
bore in the slide is designed to provide a
secure and firm hold for the tool holders
(fig. 4).

To guarantee the best possible cutting
position, ensure when the tool holder is
clamped in position that the clamping
area is at 90° to the thread pin. This
can be achieved by gently turning the
tool holder as it is being clamped in
position.

parallel bearings with the same set screw
