3. Operation

3.1 Mounting and fixing accessories

Available accessories include tool holders
⑨, reducing sleeves ⑦, mini-boring tools
⑧, and serrated tool body ⑩ with insert
holders ⑪. The smaller precision boring
tool (Ø 40 mm / 1.575") ① has an Ø 8 mm
(.315") mounting hole ⑫ for the accessory,
and the larger tool (Ø 50 mm / 1.969"), a
mounting hole of Ø 14 mm (.551"). If using
a mini-boring tool ⑧ or tool holder ⑨ with
a smaller shank diameter ⃝
sleeve ⑦ must first be fitted.
Fitting the reducing sleeve ⑦
Screw back both threaded pins ⑭ in the
precision boring tool's slider ⑬ as far as
they will go. Insert the reducing sleeve ⑦
with the smaller outer diameter ⃝
mounting hole ⑫ as far as it will go. Make
sure that both cross bores are pointing in
the direction of both threaded pins.

Mounting the mini­boring tool ⑧,
tool holder ⑨ or serrated tool body ⑩
When inserting an accessory into the tool's
reducing sleeve ⑦ or directly into the slider
⑬, ensure that the clamping surface ⑮ is
pointing in the direction of the threaded
pins ⑭. The mini-boring tool ⑧, tool holder
⑨ or serrated tool body ⑩ is then axially
positioned using an adjusting device or oth-
er measuring tool. Bear in mind that there
is a minimum clamping length ⑯ – see "7.
Technical data." The threaded pins must be
properly fitted to provide an optimal cutting
edge position and secure hold. For a proper
fit, when tightening the two threaded pins,
the shank that is to be clamped should be
turned slightly in the opposite direction.
Mounting the insert holder ⑪
Place the insert holder on the K-section of
the serrated tool body ⑩ and clamp it using
the fixing screw ⑰. The serrated tool body
has a scale ⑱ to aid installation.
