AILERON SERVO INSTALLATION
1.
Apply a small mount of 5-minute epoxy to an 8-32 x 1
inch countersunk screw. Slide the screw into the hole in
the aileron from the top of the wing.
2.
Apply a drop of thread lock to the threads of the screw
near the aileron.
3.
Secure the screw using an 8-32 nut. Tighten the nut
using a #2 Phillips screwdriver and 11/32-inch open end
wrench. Do not over-tighten the nut and damage the
aileron.
4.
Thread the control horn so the top of the horn is 1
inches (28mm) from the aileron. Position the control horn
so the screw faces toward the wing tip. Measure from
the aileron, not the reinforcement plate for the control
horn screw.
5.
Install the grommets and eyelets in the servos. Prepare
all the servos for your model at this time.

6.
Secure a 9-inch (230mm) extension to the servo lead
for the top wing aileron servos using a servo connector
clip. The servos for the bottom wing aileron servos will
use an 18-inch (460mm) extension.
7.
Place the servo in the opening with the servo output
facing the leading edge. Center the servo in the opening
and use a pencil to mark through the eyelets and onto
the wood for the positions for the servo mounting
screws.
8.
Remove the servo and use a drill with a 5/64-inch (2mm)
drill it to drill the holes for the four servo mounting
screws.
9.
Thread a servo mounting screw into each of the holes
to cut threads into the surrounding wood. Remove the
screws before proceeding to the next step.
10. Apply a few drops of thin CA in each hole to harden
the surrounding wood. Allow the CA to fully cure before
proceeding.
