18 Repairing
► Position the blade (1) next to the fanwheel so
that the raised areas on the contact area
engage in the notches.
► Place the new washer (2) on the opening of
the socket and ensure that it is correctly
aligned.
► Apply threadlocking (Loctite 243 or Loc‐
tite 242) to the thread of the new screw (3).
► Screw in the screw (3).
► Block the blade (1) with a piece of wood (4).
► Tighten the screw (3) with 35 Nm.

Sharpening and Balancing the
Blade
Sharpening and balancing the blade correctly
requires a lot of practice.
STIHL recommends having the blade sharpened
and balanced by a STIHL specialist dealer.

■ The cutting edges of the blade are sharp. This
may result in the user cutting themselves.
► Wear protective gloves.
► Switch off the lawnmower and remove the bat‐
teries.
► Upend the lawn mower.
► Remove the blade.
► Sharpen the blade. Observe the sharpening
angle and cool the blade,
Bluing of the blade during sharpening is not
permitted.
► Attach the blade.
► If anything is unclear: consult a STIHL special‐
ist dealer.
18 Repairing
18.1
The mower, blade and battery cannot be
repaired by the user.
► If the mower or the blade is damaged: Do not
use your mower and contact your STIHL serv‐
icing dealer for assistance.
► If the battery has a malfunction or is damaged:
Replace the battery.
► If safety labels are illegible or damaged: Have
the labels replaced by a STIHL servicing
dealer.

► Charge the Battery as described in the
Instruction Manual of the STIHL
Charger.
► Remove the battery.
► Allow the battery to cool down or warm
up.
► Remove the battery.
► Clean the electrical contacts in both bat‐
tery compartments.
► Fit the battery.
► Switch the lawn mower on.
