Transmitter Trimming
Every model requires its own trimming. By trimming at the transmitter side, the model can be trimmed for neutral flying.
Computer transmitters offer the possibility to save these model specific trim settings in the transmitter. Because these
settings are, as mentioned before, specific to the model, it only makes sense to save them in each model rather than
saving them in the transmitter for each model. The GigaTronic is offering this possibility. The transmitter trimmers can
remain in neutral position for each model and serve fine tuning at the airfield.
Procedure
The model has been trimmed to neutral during flight by adjusting the transmitter trimmers.
Land the model and wait until the main rotor stops. Now push the tail control stick all the way to the left. After about two
seconds the gyro correction will be confirmed. Keep the tail control stick all the way to the left. After about five more
seconds the second confirmation for the trim saving will happen. This way the trim settings are being transferred and
saved. Initially, the affected servos will move into an off position in relation to the trimming difference. As soon as the
transmitter timmers will be moved back into neutral position, the servo positions, too, will be correct again. This process
may be carried out several times in a row. The deviations from the trim center will be added up. In order to avoid limitation
effects the transmitter trimming is limited to a maximum of +/- 25%.
Erasing the transmitter trimming
By moving the tail control stick for about 10 seconds all the way to the left, the transmitter trimming will be erased after
the 3rd confirmation.
Configuring the GigaTronic
With the GigaTronic you have the possibility to set up your helicopter entirely as per your desire. The optionally available
"GigaTronic Control" software will allow you to easily adjust all settings via your PC and transfer them with the included
interface cable to the GigaTronic.
Calibrating the controller with the transmitter
Many brushless controllers have to be calibrated first to the impulse width (stick throw) of the transmitter. If this is omitted
the consequence can be that the motor may start late or not at all.
In any case, first read the instructions of the controller used in order to avoid any unwanted start of the motor. We
strongly advise to disconnect the motor during set up procedures like these.
To get into the Program Mode of the controller, the controller has to receive the signal "full throttle" when switching the
model on. It is important, that you have already processed the Channel Assignment with your transmitter (see GigaTronic
Instructions, page 7).
Procedure for transmitter/controller calibration
1. Pitch/Throttle stick to full throttle, throttle trimmer to center
2. Switch on transmitter
3. Switch on model. The GigaTronic is now in Controller Programming Mode. This is indicated by alternating red/green
flashing of the LED on the GigaTronic board.
4. Now you may make changes according to the instructions of the controller. Is it only about calibrating the impulse
width, it is sufficient to move the throttle stick into idle position.
5. Switch off the model. Next time the model is switched on the programmed settings with be active.
After the controller set up the system has to be switched off and then on again. Other functions such as Pitch, Forward
Pitch, Roll and Tail are not active during the Set Up Mode.
Important: Should you intend to use the GigaTronic in the R22 for the standard power system with Powerboard, you
will need to select in the menu "Main Motor Signal" of the GigaTronic Control V2 software the setting "Power Board GT".
Otherwise the motor may start unintended.
For brushless power in models of the ECO 7 series the following adjustments have to be performed (pre-set already at
the factory).
