3. TRANSPORT AND STORAGE
3.1 Receiving the product
The equipment is delivered suitably packaged. Make a visual inspection of the packaging for damage. When unpacking, carefully remove it and
check the integrity of the parts. Record any significant damage to the product in the transport documents. If articles are missing, contact ZENIT
(or its dealer) or the forwarders.
caution
Check that the data on the nameplate are the same as those of the product required.
caution
Keep the packaging materials for future use; if damaged, dispose of them as required by law.
Take special care not to injure yourself with sharp tools and not to damage the product, especially the electrical wiring.
3.2 Storage
During storage, the mixer must be kept in its packaging, in a suitable place, out of the reach of children or unauthorised people, adequately secured
against accidental falls and protected against humidity, vibrations, dust and extreme temperatures (below -20°C/-4°F and above +60°C/140°F).
caution
If the mixer should freeze, do not use flames to remove the ice; immerse it in the liquid in which it is to be installed until it
thaws out.
The condition of the mechanical seal oil should be checked before using the product if it has been exposed to low temperatures.
Turn the propeller by hand occasionally (at least every 2 months), to prevent the mechanical seals from sticking together. If the unit is stored in its
original packaging, the pack will have to be opened to perform these rotations.
If the unit is stored without the propeller, manually turn the shaft.
For storage periods longer than one year, the gearbox versions has to be filled completely with oil. The gearbox oil must be
changed before using the stored machine.
4. INSTALLATION
4.1 General concepts and safety precautions
Installation of the mixer and connection to the electrical mains must only be carried out by a skilled technician.
Observe all safety regulations at the installation site. The classification of the installation site must be defined by the owner.
Fence off the working area by appropriate means and wear personal protection equipment.
Make sure there is adequate fresh air supply in the tank.
Make sure that the atmosphere in the working area is not potentially explosive. Persons must not enter the installation area when
the atmosphere is explosive.
Before installation, make sure that the mixer is not connected to the mains and that it cannot be accidentally energized
Prior to installation, check the oil level in the mechanical seals oil chamber and for ZMR/ZMXR models, check the oil level in the
gearbox chamber.
Prior to installation, verify that the bolts, nuts and screws are properly tightened (see tab. of clause 7.5). When tigthening, renew
the threadlocker if necessary.
The shock from built up electrostatic charges on isolated components could cause an explosion. The mixers do not have isolated
components that are electrostatically chargeable and they are all equipped with screw for connection to the equipotential ground
network (see point 5.4). Any additional components installed in the hazardous area must be connected to the earthing network
according to the EN 1127-1 rule, part 6.4.7.
Check the suitability for use in potentially explosive atmospheres of each additional component installed in the hazardous area.
Place the mixer in such a way that a good mixing of the liquid in the entire tank is obtained. If more mixers are installed in the same tank, the
mixers must not generate opposite flows.
Once the unit has been installed in a closed tank, the tank access point must be closed so that people cannot fall in. Never leave
the tank access point uncovered or unprotected.
4.2 Handling and lifting
The mixer must be lifted and handled using a chain or sling secured to the handle on top, with suitable machinery (crane, hoist, etc.). Before
lifting, check the weight of the product stated on the nameplate and use certified slings, chains and hooks of suitable load capacity. Ensure that
the electric mixer is firmly secured and cannot fall, rotate or swing.
Do not stand close to the mixer during handling. Always wear personal protection equipment.
caution
Before attempting to lift the mixer, observe any local regulations that set limits for the weight to be lifted manually by indi-
viduals, i.e. handled without the use of lifting equipment.
NEVER handle the mixer by the cable.
