7.3 Medical Products Operator Directive (MPBetreibV)
The cart should be always be cleaned and disinfected with a suitable cleaning agent before any
service operations are undertaken, and before the cart is returned for purposes of repair.
Clause 6 of the Medical Products Operator Directive (MPBetreibV) specifies that the safety check
should be carried out every 2 years. The operator must use professional personnel with the
appropriate training, skills and track record of practical, on-the-job experience to carry out the
safety check. Such personnel guarantee that safety checks will be carried out in a professional
manner if they are independent and not subject to specific instructions relating to the checking
activity and are provided with suitable test and measurement instrumentation. (Applicable in the
area of validity of the Federal Republic, otherwise the national guidelines are applicable). Repairs
to the cart should only be effected by professional personnel. We recommend consulting
ITD on all matters relating to service activities.
