Product Description

®
arium
61316 system
The arium
®
61316 is a high per-
formance reverse osmosis (RO)
system comprised of four principle
parts: housing (incorporating elec-
tronics, pump and tubings), RO
modules, pretreatment cartridge
and pressure tank, illustrated in the
flow chart.
A safety solenoid valve is upstream
from the actual water purification.
This valve is only open when the
system is in the operating mode.
After the feed water has passed the
built-in pressure regulator, it is pre-
filtered with help of the pretreat-
ment cartridge. A pump maintains
the proper operating pressure and
forces the water through the paral-
lel connected two RO modules.
Product water can both be stored in
a pressure tank or in an open tank.*
The concentrate is fed directly into
the waster water drain. For quality
control the system performs a tem-
perature compensated conductivity
measurement in both the feed
water and the product water.
If a pressure tank (optional) for
storing water has been installed,
it will shut off the RO system when
the system pressure reaches 3 bar
("preoperate" mode) and will auto-
matically initiate a backflushing
cycle of the RO-modules with
permeate.

The automatic backflush pragram
dissolves residues that built up on
the untreated water side and flush-
es them out to the drain. This tech-
nology guarantees an exceptionally
long life of the RO modules. The
system is automatically flushed
whenever the system switches from
the "operate" (tank <100%) mode
to the "preoperate" (tank level =
100%) mode or by pushing the
"standby" button.
The reverse osmosis system should
be cleaned regularly. Sartorius
Stedim Biotech supplies suitable
sanitizing|cleaning solutions.
Cleaning takes place automatically.
Feed water quality and permeate
quality are continuously monitored:
product water quality and rejection
rate of the RO modules are con-
tinuously indicated in the display.
When water quality is out of toler-
ance with the manually entered
<Set point>, the appropriate visual
alarm appears. An audio signal can
be selected optional for all alarm
messages.

RO pressure tank
If the system has a depressurized
tank (optional) connected down-
stream, this tank will be controlled
via a float switch (level regulator).*
The two RO modules and the pre-
treatment cartridge are consum-
ables which require replacement
from time to time. The interval
between replacements will depend
upon water consumption and feed
water quality. A note for replace
any consumables is indicated in
the display.
Automatic sanitization programs
are available for cleaning both
the reverse osmosis system and
the tank.
The various individual parameters
can be set in the <Maintenance>
mode.
An RS232 serial interface allows
the user to document the product
water quality in accordance with
GLP guidelines (Good Laboratory
Practice).
