Attaching Side Handle (Fig. 2)
WARNING: Before using the tool,
check that the handle is tightened
securely.
WARNING: The side handle should
always be used to maintain control of
the tool at all times.
Screw the side handle (G) tightly into one of the
holes (M) on either side of the gear case.
Mounting and Removing a Keyed
Guard (Fig. 1, 3)
WARNING: To reduce the risk
of serious personal injury, turn
tool off and disconnect tool from
power source before making any
adjustments or removing/installing
attachments or accessories. Before
reconnecting the tool, depress and
release the trigger switch to ensure that
the tool is off.
CAUTION: Guards must be used with
this grinder.
When using the grinder for cutting metal or masonry
a Type 1 guard MUST be used. Type 1 guards are
available at extra cost from D
NOTE: Please refer to the Grinding and Cutting
Accessory Chart at the end of this section to
show other accessories that can be used with these
grinders.
1. Place the angle grinder on a table, spindle (D)
up.
2. Align the lugs (N) with the notches (O).
3. Press the guard (E) down and rotate it to the
required position.
4. Securely tighten the screw (F).
5. To remove the guard, slacken the screw.
CAUTION: If the guard cannot be
tightened by the adjusting screw, do
not use the tool. To reduce the risk of
personal injury, take the tool and guard
to a service center to repair or replace
the guard.
Fitting and Removing a Grinding or
Cutting Disc (Fig. 1, 4, 5)
WARNING: Do not use a damaged
disc.
1. Place the tool on a table, guard up.

2. Fit the backing flange (J) correctly onto the
spindle (D) (Fig. 4).
3. Place the disc (O) on the backing flange (J)
(Fig. 5). When fitting a disc with a raised centre,
make sure that the raised centre (P) is facing the
backing flange (J).
4. Screw the threaded clamp nut (K) onto the
spindle (D) (Fig. 6):
a. The ring on the threaded clamp nut (K) must
face towards the disc when fitting a grinding
disc (Fig. 5a);
b. The ring on the threaded clamp nut (K) must
face away from the disc when fitting a cutting
disc (Fig. 5b).
5. Press the spindle lock button (C) and rotate the
spindle (D) until it locks in position.
6. Tighten the threaded clamp nut (K) with the
two-pin spanner supplied.
7. Release the spindle lock.
8. To remove the disc, loosen the threaded clamp
nut (K) with the two-pin spanner.
Fitting and Removing a
Backing pad/Sanding sheet
(Fig. 1, 4, 6)
1. Place the tool on a table or flat surface, with the
guard facing up.
2. Remove the backing flange (J).
3. Place the rubber backing pad correctly onto the
spindle (D).
4. Place the sanding sheet on the rubber backing
pad.
5. Screw the threaded sanding clamp nut (L)
supplied with the backing pad onto the spindle.
The ring on the threaded clamp nut must face
towards the rubber backing pad.
6. Press the spindle lock button (C) and rotate the
spindle (D) until it locks in position.
7. Tighten the threaded sanding clamp nut (L) with
the two-pin spanner.
8. Release the spindle lock.
9. To remove the rubber backing pad, loosen
the threaded clamp nut (L) with the two-pin
spanner.
Fitting a Wire Cup Brush
Screw the wire cup brush directly onto the spindle
without the use of the spacer and threaded flange.
