Backup Applications

IBM AIX System Command
TAR, CPIO and DD allow simple backup, Verify or Restore
operation to be performed.
2 different device drivers can be used:
· A
Non Rewind
· A
device driver (used only to perform overwrite
Rewind
backup)
Please refer to the IBM AIX documentation for more information.
Tar command examples:
tar cvf /dev/rmt0 /etc
directory
will read the data on the tape
tar tvf /dev/rmt0
will restore the data from the tape to the
tar xvf /dev/rmt0
current directory tree

Installation
This application is part of the operating system.
1) Open the
System Administrator
2) Double-click on
3) The list of the available tape device(s) appears on the
screen.
4) Follow the instructions on the screen to continue.
