Sun System Command
TAR, CPIO and DD allows simple backup, verify or restore
operations to be performed.
2 different device drivers can be used:
· A
Non Rewind
· A
device driver (used only to perform overwrite backup)
Rewind
Tar command examples:
tar cvf /dev/rmt/0 /etc
directory
will read the data on the tape
tar tvf /dev/rmt/0
will restore the data from the tape to the current
tar xvf /dev/rmt/0
directory tree.
