There are the following programming options:
"Auto": If this function is selected, the speed controller will use the battery voltage to recognise the number of cells of
the LiPo battery. If you operate the speed controller with NiMH batteries, you need to programme "Auto".
"2 cells": In the speed controller, a LiPo battery with 2 cells (rated voltage 7.4 V) is specified. For a programmed
undervoltage recognition with, e.g., 3.2 V/cell, the speed controller would reduce the power of the drive motor when
the voltage value 6.4 V is reached (2 cells x 3.2 V = 6.4 V) and thus signal a flat battery.
"3 cells": In the speed controller, a LiPo battery with 3 cells (rated voltage 11.1 V) is specified. For a programmed
undervoltage recognition with, e.g., 3.2 V/cell, the speed controller would reduce the power of the drive motor when
the voltage value 9.6 V is reached (3 cells x 3.2 V = 9.6 V) and thus signal a flat battery.
Attention!
If the function "Auto" is programmed and, e.g., a flat 3-cell LiPo battery is connected, the speed controller
may recognise an incorrect cell number of the rechargeable battery (2 cells instead of 3 cells). This would
cause the connected 3-cell LiPo battery to be deep-discharged in running operation and thus destroyed! For
this reason, we recommend always programming the specifically used cell number of the drive battery (e.g.
3 cells).
Function 3 "Undervoltage recognition"
A programmed undervoltage recognition reviews the voltage status of the drive battery in operation. If the battery volt-
age of the rechargeable battery drops under a specific value for more than two seconds, a flat battery is recognised
and the motor output is reduced to 50% to indicate this for the operator.
Example: With a setting of 3.2 V/cell and a 3-cell LiPo battery, a battery voltage of approx. 9.6 V will cause the speed
controller to reduce the motor output to 50% (motor no longer turns as quickly) and thus signals a flat battery.
Attention!
It is urgently recommended that an undervoltage recognition be programmed when connecting a recharge-
able LiPo battery. Otherwise, the LiPo battery may be deep-discharged, which would destroy it. We recom-
mend a deactivation voltage of 3.0 V/cell.
If a NiMH rechargeable battery is used, the undervoltage recognition must be switched off.
Function 4 "Motor Timing"
This setting influences motor running characteristics (similar to early ignition of a combustion engine).
0° to 7.5° = low timing; 11.25° to 18.75° = normal timing; 22.5° to 26.25° = high timing.
Setting a low timing value means that the motor has a little more torque as compared to the basic settings, and a little
lower maximum speed.
Setting a higher timing value means that the motor has a little higher maximum speed as compared to the basic set-
tings, and a little less torque.
In both cases, the current values change however. Therefore, also observe compliance with the motor and speed
controller specifications. Also observe the temperatures of the components named in operation. For this reason, we
recommend that the factory settings not be changed.
