Checking the engine oil level and topping up
Before starting the generating set, always check the oil level. If the generating set has been used, leave to cool for at least 30
minutes before checking the oil level.
1.
Open the oil level access flap (A24).
2.
Remove the oil filler cap (A2-B1)
3.
Visually check the oil level: the oil must reach the filler neck (B2).
If the oil level is too low, top it up using a funnel until the required level is reached.
4.
Refit and tighten the oil filler cap.
5.
Check that there are no oil leaks, and wipe away any traces of oil with a clean cloth.
6.
Close the oil level access flap.
4.4
Checking the fuel level and topping up
Visually inspect the fuel level on the fuel level indicator (A3) regularly and before starting the generating set. The red marker on the
indicator should be between the maximum level (F = full) and the minimum level (E = empty). If the fuel level is close to the "E"
mark, top it up.
1.
Unscrew the fuel tank cap (A4).
2.
Using a funnel, fill the fuel tank up to the red mark on the screen filter (A7-C1).
Do not overfill the tank; there should not be any fuel in the filler neck.
3.
Check that the marker on the fuel level indicator reaches the "F" mark.
4.
Carefully tighten the fuel tank cap.
5.
Check that there are no leaks, and wipe away any traces of fuel with a clean cloth.
4.5
Starting the generating set

2.
Whilst holding the fuel tank cap firmly to prevent it from opening, turn the air vent to ON (A5, one complete revolution in an
anti-clockwise direction).
3.
Turn the fuel tap (A6) to the ON position.
4.
Set the switch (A10) to
5.
Pull the starter (A9) fully.
Do not use the choke when the engine is warm or when the atmospheric temperature is high.
6.
Hold the generating set firmly and pull the starter-recoil reel handle slowly (A12) until there is resistance, let it return then
pull it sharply until the engine starts.
4.6
Using the electricity supplied
4.6.1 Using the electrical socket
When the generating set is warm and the speed has stabilised (between 3 and 5 min):
1.
Gradually press the starter (A9) to return it to its initial position (the generating set must not stop).
2.
Connect the device to be used to the electrical socket (A13) of the generating set.
3.
Put the economic idle speed (A11) in the
If devices requiring considerable starting current are being used, leave the economic idle speed switch in the
position.
4.6.2 Charging a battery (12V socket)
The generating set does not have a charge controller, therefore the charge is not regulated or limited. Always
observe the charging time, regularly checking the battery using a hydrometer (acidimeter). Do not leave the
battery connected to the vehicle and never attempt to start the vehicle while the battery is being charged.
Respect the polarities.
IMPORTANT
The generating set is equipped with a 12V socket (A14) which can be used for occasional brief battery charging operations up to
40Ah maximum, when semi-discharged.
1.
Start the generating set.
2.
Connect the red cable to the positive battery terminal (+).
3.
Connect the black cable to the negative battery terminal (-).
4.
Press the circuit breaker for the 12V socket (A15) then connect the charging cables of the battery to the 12V socket of the
generating set.
5.
Put the economic idle speed (A11) in the
6.
Check the battery regularly using a hydrometer (acidimeter) and use a charge controller to monitor the charge.
7.
Once charging is complete, switch off the generating set then disconnect the cables from the battery and the generating
set.
Simultaneous use of the electrical socket and 12V socket is possible, but the total consumption in watts (W) must not exceed the
nominal power of the generating set (see § Specifications).
