The two horizontal stabiliser panels are held on the fuselage by means of two joiner rods, and
glued in place. Drill holes in the tail boom at the moulded-in positions, and check that the joiner
rods do not foul the tail rotor drive shaft or control linkage. Slip the stabilisers onto the joiners
and check the fit. The panels are epoxied permanently to the rods and the fuselage, but not until
the model has been painted. The tip fins are simply glued to the ends of the horizontal stabiliser
panels.

1.9 Tailskid

The tailskid consists of two parts: the curved guard bar between the bottom of the vertical
stabiliser and the tail boom, and the skid itself. Bend both parts to shape from the length of 2
mm Ø spring steel rod supplied, and slip each inside a piece of ABS bowden cable outer sleeve
to thicken them. Check that the tailskid is the shape shown in the drawing, and roughen up the
front end of the rod. Drill a hole in the bottom of the lower vertical stabiliser, push the skid into
the hole and glue it in place using plenty of UHU plus endfest 300. Drill holes in the vertical
stabiliser and the bottom of the tail boom to take the curved guard bar. It should be glued in
place once the vertical stabiliser has been fixed permanently.

1.10 Silencer installation

The general rule is that the silencer must be fitted in such a way that it does not make direct
contact with the fuselage, as this produces excessive vibration and noise, and can even deform
or damage the fuselage by heat. Installing the silencer in a scale helicopter fuselage calls for
particular care!
If you are using the recommended rear-exhaust two-stroke motor, the end of the manifold will
be located centrally below the mechanics, and the front end of the silencer is supported by the
Teflon hose and spring clips joining it to the manifold. At the rear end we recommend that you
