STORAGE

8.0 GENERAL _________________________________________________________________

1. Lubricate then wash tractor thoroughly. Repair and
paint damaged or exposed metal.
2. Inspect tractor, tighten all hardware, replace worn or
damaged components.
3. Drain and refill radiator. See Section 7.16.

8.1 BATTERY __________________________________________________________________

1. Remove, clean and store battery in upright position in
cool, dry place.
Storage above 80°F (26.7°C) greatly increases self-
discharge. If wet batteries are discharged, the
electrolyte will freeze when stored below 20°F (-7°C).

8.2 ENGINE____________________________________________________________________

1. While engine is warm, remove drain plug, drain oil
from crankcase and change oil filter. Install drain plug
and refill with fresh oil. Torque drain plug to 22 ft. lb.
(30 N.m).

8.3 CUTTING UNITS_____________________________________________________________

1. Wash cutting units thoroughly, repair and paint any
damaged or exposed metal.
2. Lubricate all fittings.

8.4 AFTER STORAGE ___________________________________________________________

1. Check and reinstall battery; Section 7.2 and 7.3.
2. Check or service fuel filter and air cleaner.
3. Check oil level in engine crankcase and hydraulic
system.
4. Check or service engine coolant level.
5. Fill fuel tank with fresh fuel; Section 7.7.
6. Make certain tires are properly inflated.
7. Start and operate the engine at 1/2 throttle. Allow
enough time for engine to become properly warmed
and lubricated.

4. Clean tires thoroughly and store tractor so that load
is off tires. If the tractor is not on jack stands, check
tires at regular intervals and reinflate as necessary.
5. Keep the machine and all accessories clean, dry
and protected from the elements during storage.
Never store equipment with fuel in the tank inside a
building where fumes may reach an open flame or
spark.
2. Check and recharge battery every 60 to 90 days
while in storage.
2. Clean exterior of engine. Paint exposed metal or
apply a light coat of rust preventative oil.
3. Resharpen and balance the cutter blades. Apply a
light coat of rust preventative oil on sharpened
edges.
8. Remove all oil from cutting blades. Readjust cutting
height.
