Cleaning the Generator

Clean the unit whenever dust, dirt, oil, moisture, or other
foreign material is visible on its exterior or interior surfaces.
The air inlets and outlets on the enclosure must not become
clogged with snow, leaves, or any other foreign material. To
prevent generator damage caused by overheating, keep the
air inlets and outlets clean and unobstructed at all times.
NOTICE DO NOT use direct spray from a garden hose to
clean generator. Water can enter the engine and generator
and cause damage.
1. Stop the generator.
2. Disconnect the negative ( - ) cable at the battery.
3. Clean generator as follows:
• Use a damp cloth to wipe exterior surfaces clean.
• Use a soft, bristle brush and vacuum cleaner to loosen
and pick up dirt and debris.
• Use low pressure air (not to exceed 25 psi) to blow
away dirt and debris.
• Clean the air inlets and outlets of any snow, leaves,
or debris.
To prevent generator damage caused
by overheating,
these openings must be kept
unobstructed.
4. Connect the negative ( - ) cable at the battery.
5. Set the generator mode to AUTO.

Engine Maintenance

Engine Oil
Use only Briggs & Stratton ® 80028446 SAE 5W-30 full
synthetic engine oil.
Checking Engine Oil Level
Oil must be maintained between the "ADD" and the "FULL"
marks on the dipstick. To make sure an accurate reading on
the dipstick, make sure the following steps are taken before
checking the oil level.
1. Stop the generator.
2. Disconnect the negative ( - ) cable at the battery.
3. Allow approximately five minutes for the oil to drain
back into the oil pan.
4. Remove the dipstick. Wipe with a clean cloth or paper
towel and install. Push the dipstick all the way into the
dipstick tube.
5. Remove the dipstick and note the amount of oil on the
dipstick. The oil level must be between the "ADD" and
"FULL" marks.
6. If the oil level is below the "ADD" mark, install the
dipstick and proceed to step 8.
7. Remove the oil filler cap from the valve cover.
8. Add the required amount of oil to bring the level up to,
but not over, the "FULL" mark on the dipstick. Install the
oil filler cap to the valve cover and wipe up any spilled
oil.
9. Connect the negative ( - ) cable at the battery.
10. Set the generator mode to AUTO.
