13. Malfunctions

The malfunctions described below may only be remedied by trained per-
sonnel.
If it is not possible to remedy a malfunction with the described corrective
actions, send the spray gun to the SATA customer service department.
Malfunction
Leaks at the pre-noz-
zle and material noz-
zle.
Material leaks from
behind the paint nee-
dle seal through the
nozzle head nut.
Spray pattern in sickle
shape.
Spray pattern too
small, slanted,
one-sided or split.
Air comes out of the
air cap when the spray
gun is off.

Cause
Foreign bodies in the
pre-nozzle prevent
sealing.
Defective paint needle
seal.
Horn hole clogged.
Material nozzle (poss.
air cap) clogged.
Material nozzle
blocked.
Air piston defective or
soiled.
Corrective action
Clean pre-nozzle in
solvent or suitable
cleaning agent, blow
out, replace pre-noz-
zle.
Replace paint needle
seal retainer (see
chapter 10.1).
Clean air cap (see
chapter 11).
Clean air cap or mate-
rial nozzle (see chap-
ter 11).
Specify fan pattern with
the material nozzle.
Remove blockage with
SATA cleaning nozzle
(Art. No. 92296).
Clean the air piston
(see chapter 11) or
replace it (see chap-
ter 10.6).
