Using the TENS function

Please consult the enclosed appendix
"Electrode positioning" for information on
where to position the electrodes. You
can also refer to the corresponding spe-
cialised literature on electrode position-
ing.
Always remove the electrodes from the
skin with modest force to avoid injuries in
rare cases to highly-sensitive skin.
When removing or moving electrodes,
first switch off the device in order to
avoid inadvertent irritation.
Information on electrode positioning
Proper positioning of the electrodes is
important if stimulation is to have the de-
sired effect. We recommend that you
agree the best electrode positions in the
intended area of use with your doctor.
The following information applies when
selecting where to position the elec-
trodes:
Distance between electrodes
The greater the distance between the
electrodes, the larger the area of tissue
that will be stimulated. This applies both
to the area and depth of the tissue area.
However, the intensity with which the tis-
sue is stimulated also reduces the grea-
ter the distance between the electrodes.
Thus, although choosing a larger dis-
tance will indeed stimulate a larger area,
the simulation will be less intense. The
pulse intensity must then be increased in
order to increase stimulation.
Intervals for use
Use the unit multiple times a week as nee-
ded.
As a guideline when choosing the dis-
tance between the electrodes:
• The ideal distance is about 5 – 15
cm
• Using distances under 5 cm will
supply strong stimulation mostly to
superficial structures
• Using distances over 15 cm will ve-
ry weakly stimulate large and deep
structures.
Connecting the electrodes
• Connect the adhesive electrodes to the
connecting cable as illustrated.
• Position the electrodes on the desired
part of the body (example).
• Connect the connecting cable to the
connection [5] on the device.
