All power connections (X1/L1, L2, L3, 1U, 1V, 1W, 2U, 2V, 2W, B1, B2 and BN) can
carry a life−threatening electrical voltage if starttec is connected to the mains. For this
reason, de−energise the starttec before performing any work on it or opening the
housing.
The connections X1/1V, 2V, B1 and B2 carry a life−threatening electrical voltage even
with inhibited starttec (terminal 28 = LOW). Depending upon the risk analysis of the
machine/system, you may have to take additional protective measures.
External influences − e.g. overvoltage through lightning − can damage the power
section of the starttec to the extent that the motor continues running on two phases,
even if the starttec is inhibited (terminal 28 = LOW) or the 24 VDC supply voltage is
switched off. Depending upon the risk analysis of the machine/system, you may have
to take additional protective measures (e.g. additional isolation from mains).
The metal housing of the starttec has an operating temperature of > 60 °C:
– Touching the metal housing can cause burns.
– Depending upon the risk analysis of the machine/system, you may have to apply
additional protective covers.
The connected motor can overheat if
– motors are operated at the starttec that have no temperature monitoring with PTC
thermistor (PTC) or thermal contact (NC contact).
– the temperature monitoring with PTC thermistor (PTC) or thermal contact (NC
contact) is not connected to the starttec.
– the temperature monitoring is not configured (C0119).
– the set rated motor current for the I
(stepping switch or C0120).
2
– the I
t monitoring is switched off (stepping switch or C0121).
The starttec may be destroyed if you do not switch off all supply voltages when
changing the motor wiring (e.g. from multi−motor operation to CW/CCW operation).
Therefore, switch off the power supply and the 24 VDC supply before carrying out
wiring operations.
