Intended Use

The Active Sling is a product intended for assisted
transfer and rehabilitation of patients/residents with
limited ability to move.
Active Flites has been designed to support hospital or
care facility patients/residents while using a patient/
resident transfer lifter, under the supervision of trained
nursing staff. Flites Sling are to be used for a limited
period only, and, by nature of their design, must be
treated as a disposable and patient/resident specifi c
product. Flites Sling must not be used to support a
patient/resident while bathing or showering. Active
Flites are disposable product and cannot be washed.
The Active Sling / Active Flites should be used together
with ArjoHuntleigh lift devices in accordance with the
Allowed Combinations specifi ed in the Instructions
for Use (IFU). The Active Sling / Active Flites shall
only be used by appropriately trained caregivers with
adequate knowledge of the care environment, it's
common practices and procedures and in accordance
with the instructions outlined in the Instructions for
Use. The Active Sling / Active Flites should only be
used for the purpose specifi ed in this Instructions for
Use. Any other use is prohibited.

Patient/Resident Assessment

We recommend that facilities establish regular
assessment routines. Caregivers should assess each
patient/resident according to the following criteria
prior to use:
Patient/resident sits in wheelchair
Is able to partially bear weight on at least one leg.
Has some trunk stability.
Dependent on caregiver in most situations.
Physically demanding for caregiver.
Stimulation of remaining abilities is very
important.
Safe Working Load (SWL) Active Sling / Active Flites:
KKA5130M (Transfer): 140 kg (309 lbs);
KKA5130M (Walking and standing), KKA5120,
KKA5090, KKA5370: 190 kg (418 lbs);
KKA5420: 190kg (418 lbs);
MFA4000 (SARA Plus Flites): 190 kg (418lbs)
The right type and size of slings should be used after
proper assessment of each patient/resident's size,
condition and the type of lifting situation.
If the patient/resident does not meet these criteria an
alternative equipment/system shall be used.

Expected Service Life

The expected service life of Active Sling / Active Flites
is the maximum period of useful life.
The expected life of the Active Sling / Active Flites is
dependent on the actual use conditions. Therefore,
before use, always make sure that product does not
show any signs of fraying, tearing or other damage
and that there is no damage (i.e. cracking, bending,
breaking), in which case do not use the sling.
