Installation

For the mounting and operation, the respective
national regulations as well as the general rules
of engineering shall be observed
(IEC/EN 60079-14).
The composition of internal / external earth bolt
see chapter 10.2.

For the maximum connectable cross section
ATEX - IEC
of the internal / external earthing stud see
technical datas.
The maximum cross section of the earting stud
has to be taken into account for the maximum
acceptable cross section of the supply lines for
the complete electrical equipment.
The electrical connection may only be
carried out by skilled staff accordance to
IEC/EN 600479-14.
The improper installation of the empty
enclosure can result in the invalidation of the
guarantee.

6.1 Mounting

The empty enclosure type S-TB can be mounted
without opening the enclosure.
Empty enclosures of the type S-TB are intended
for wall mounting. They may only be affixed at
the given points and shall be positioned evenly.
The screw used shall fit the fixing hole and must
not damage it (e.g. use of washer).
6.2 Opening the enclosures
Cover with screws:
The cover is not secured against falling.
The screws can be solved with a suitable
screwdriver.

6.3 Flanges

Flange plates for empty enclosure type S-TB
shall be fitted so that the IP protection is
maintained.
PE conductors fed from outside are to be
connected to the PE terminal provided on the
flange.
Attention: Metal flanges, metal plates
and metal cable glands shall be included in
the equipotential earth connection.

6.4 Closing the enclosure/
cover closure
Any foreign matter is to be removed from
the apparatus.
Cover with screws:
The screws can be tightened with a suitable
screwdriver.
In order to ensure the required minimum
protection category, the cover screws are to be
tightened down (see technical datas).
Overtightening might impair the
protection category.

6.5 Taking into operation

Prior to taking the empty enclosure type
S-TB into operation, the tests specified in the
relevant national regulations shall be carried out.
In addition, the correct functioning and installa-
tion of the empty enclosure type
S-TB in accordance with these operating
instructions and other applicable regulations shall
be checked.
Attention:
Only fully certified enclosures may be
installed and put into operation.
Incorrect installation and use of the empty
enclosure type S-TB can invalidate the
guarantee.

Maintenance / Servicing

The relevant national regulations which
apply to the maintenance/repair of electrical
apparatus in explosive atmospheres, shall be
observed (IEC/EN 60079-17).
The required maintenance intervals depend on
the specific application and shall therefore be
determined by the user dependent on the
conditions of use.
When servicing the apparatus, particularly those
parts that are decisive for the type of protection
against explosion, shall be checked (e.g.
intactness and tightness of the enclosure,
efficacy of the gaskets and the cable entries).
If during servicing, repairs prove to be necessary,
section 8 of these operating instructions shall be
observed.

Repairs / Overhaul /
Modifications
Overhaul and repairs may only be carried out
with original COOPER CROUSE-HINDS spare
parts.
Repairs that affect the explosion
protection, may only be carried out by
COOPER CROUSE-HINDS or a qualified
electrician in compliance with the applicable
national rules (IEC/EN 60079-19).
Modifications to the apparatus or changes of its
design are not permitted.

Disposal / Recycling
When the empty enclosure type S-TB is
disposed of, the respective national regulations
on waste disposal shall be observed.
Subject to modifications or supplement of the
product range.
