❐ There may be some production residues stuck to the device. To avoid health risks, clean the
device before fi rst use (see chapter "Cleaning and storage").
❐ Only boil fresh (drinkable) tap water that has a cold to moderately warm temperature. Do
not use any water from a bath tub, sink or other containers.
❐ Keep the device clean.

Setting up and connecting the device properly

❐ Only use the device in closed spaces.
❐ Always place the device on a dry, level, fi rm and heat resistant surface.
❐ Do not subject the device to extreme temperatures, severe changes in temperature, direct
sunlight or moisture.
❐ Maintain adequate distance to heat sources such as stoves or ovens to prevent damage to
the device.
❐ Only connect the device to a properly installed socket with protective earth contacts. The
socket must also be easily accessible after the device has been connected. The mains voltage
must correspond to the technical data of the device (see chapter "Technical data"). Only use
proper extension cords, whose technical data correspond to those of the device.
❐ Ensure that the connected mains cord does not pose a tripping hazard. Do not allow the
cord to hang over the edge of a table or kitchen worktop. Someone could catch him/herself
and pull down the device.
❐ Lay the cable such that it is not crushed or creased and such that it does not come into
contact with hot surfaces.

Proper use

❐ Check the device for damages prior to each use. If the device, the cord or the plug exhibit
visible damages, the device may not be used. Do not use the device if it had a malfunction or
has fallen down.
❐ If the device is defective, do not attempt to repair it yourself. In the event of damage, contact
the customer service department.
❐ Only use the enclosed accessories from the manufacturer.
❐ Do not allow the device to fall and do not subject it to strong percussions.
❐ Do not leave the device on when it is unattended.
❐ When fi lling, pouring out or cleaning the kettle, take it off the base.
❐ Never fi ll it above the MAX mark.
❐ Do not operate the device without water or if the water level is below the MIN mark. How-
ever, the device automatically deactivates itself if this should happen. In this case, push the
On/Off switch upwards and let the kettle cool off before you fi ll in and boil cold water again.
❐ Each time before boiling, ensure that the lid is properly closed and that the switch is not
jammed as the device may otherwise not be able to deactivate.
