VI - FAULT FINDING GUIDE
The engine won't start:
1 - Is the engine start/stop switch in the "ON" position?
2 - Does the oil warning light flash when the starter is activated (TR2.36H, TR3.60H, XT2.42H, XT3.78H)?
3 - Is the petrol tap open (ON)?
4 - Is there enough petrol?
5 - Is petrol reaching the carburettor?
To check, unscrew the bleed screw with the tap in the ON position
6 - Is there a spark at the spark plug?
A - Remove the spark plug cap. Clean the base of the plug, then remove the plug.
B - Place the spark plug back in its cap.
C - Switch on the engine start/stop switch.
D - Place the spark plug on the engine in such a way that the lateral electrode is earthed, pull on the starter cord in order to check whether a spark flashes between the elec-
trodes.
E - If there is no spark, replace the spark plug.
If the plug is in good condition, try starting the engine as per the instructions.
If the engine still does not start, take it to your dealer.
The engine does not produce the power demanded:
1 - Check that the air filter is not clogged.
2 - Check the quality of the fuel, the cleanliness of the fuel filter (motor pump sets ST2.36H, ST3.60H and ST3.60HK) and check whether the sediment bowl is not obstructed.
The pump does not turn:
1 - The rotor is clogged.
The pump volume is weak:
1 - Air leak on the suction side.
2 - Drop in engine power.
3 - Failure of the pump's mechanical seal.
4 - Vertical distance between the pump and the water source.
5 - Suction hose damaged or crushed or pinched or twisted.
6 - Water leak in the hoses.
7 - Clogging of rotor.
8 - Worn rotor.
Poor auto-priming:
1 - Air leak in the suction side.
2 - Insufficient volume of water in the pump body.
3 - Poor tightening of the drainage bolt(s).
4 - Engine running poorly.
5 - Air leak at the mechanical seal of the pump.

ATTENTION: If any petrol is spilt make sure that the place is really dry before testing the spark plug or
starting the engine. The petrol vapours or the spilt petrol may catch fire.
