II.3 STARTING, OPERATING AND STOPPING THE MOTOR PUMP SET
II.3.1 STARTING THE MOTOR PUMP SET (FIGURES F-G-H-I-J)
- Check the oil and petrol levels (and kerosene for set ST3.60HK).
- Remove the filler cap 4 of the pump and fill the body of the pump with water.
- Screw the filler cap 4 of the pump back onto the body of the pump.
- Turn the petrol tap 31 to the "ON" position.
- For set ST3.60HK: turn the kerosene tap 42 to the "ON" position and pull the petrol tap lever
31 (only for starting from cold).
- Place the choke pull 30 to the "CLOSE" position
- Position the throttle 43 to 1/3 of the way out towards maximum engine speed starting from minimum engine speed.
- Put the engine on/off switch 29 to the "ON" position.
- Pull the starter handle 32 slightly until you feel a resistance, then pull sharply.
REMARK: Do not let the starter cord handle return suddenly but ease it back slowly to avoid damaging the mechanism.
- The motor pump set starts and discharges water.
II.3.2 OPERATING THE MOTOR PUMP SET (FIGURES K-L)
- When the engine temperature starts to rise gradually move the choke lever 30 back to the "OPEN" position.
- After the engine speed has stabilised (3 mn), place the throttle 43 to the position corresponding with the desired engine speed.
- The motor pump set discharges water in function with its speed, the height of elevation and the quality of the water.
NOTE ON GROUPS TR2.36H, TR3.60H, XT3.78H: OIL ALARM SYSTEM
The oil warning system is provided for avoiding any risk of damage to the engine caused by a lack of oil in the lower sump.
Before the oil level in the lower sump falls below a safe minimum the oil alarm system will automatically stop the engine
[the engine on/off switch will remain in the On position]
II.3.3 STOPPING THE MOTOR PUMP SET (FIGURES M-N-O)
- Place the throttle 43 to the minimum engine speed position.
- Put the engine start/stop switch 29 to the "OFF" position.
- Turn the petrol tap 31 to the "OFF" position.
- For set ST3.60HK: turn the kerosene tap 42 to the "OFF" position.
- Drain the water from the pump if you will not be using it again today by unscrewing the drainage cap(s)
3 (XT2.42H, XT3.78H). Once the water has drained from the pump body, screw the drainage cap(s) 3 back on.
In the event of an emergency stop, put the start/stop switch 43 to the "OFF" position.
ALL MAINTENANCE SHOULD BE CARRIED OUT WITH THE MOTOR PUMP SET STOPPED, SPARK
III.1 DAILY INSPECTION
- Check the engine oil level and top up if necessary.
- Check the air filter and clean / change if necessary.
- Check the fuel filter and clean / change if necessary (sets SR2.36H and ST3.60H).
- Clean the strainer and check that the hoses are in good condition and not obstructed.
III.2 PERIODIC INSPECTION
Your motor pump set requires regular maintenance and adjustments to ensure its longevity. Carry out the jobs
according to the maintenance table.
REMARK
Use only original parts or their equivalent (please contact one of our agents).
The use of spare parts that are not equivalent may result in damage to the engine.
PLUG DISCONNECTED.
Before attempting to start the motor pump set,
make sure that all the instructions described in
the previous sections have been scrupulously
respected.
Never start the engine if the pump is empty of water. The presence
of water is necessary for lubricating and priming the pump. Opera-
ting the pump without water will rapidly lead to destruction of the
seals, making it unusable.
Checks to be carried out during operation:
1 - Are there any vibrations or abnormal noises?
2 - Does the engine backfire or run rough?
3 - What colour is the exhaust gas? (Is it black or too white?)
If you observe any of the above-mentioned points, stop the
motor pump and consult your local distributor.
III - GENERAL MAINTENANCE
Never start the engine without carrying out these
checks before hand.
ATTENTION: Stop the engine before any mainte-
nance operation. If you need to run the engine,
make sure that the working area is well ventilated.
Exhaust gases contain carbon monoxide, a toxic
gas; exposure to it can provoke loss of conscience
and even death.
9
NOTE: Do not use the choke when the engine is
warm or when the ambient temperature is high.
The hoses should be visible along their
whole length and be arranged in such a
way that they will not be damaged by
heat, crushing, pinching, stretching, twis-
ting or shock.
If a discharge cock is installed, do not
close it suddenly.
Avoid the "hammer effect" due to a ve-
hicle running over the hose.
STOP the motor pump set if it does
not prime after 3 minutes and check
that the suction hose is correctly fitted
and tightened, is not blocked or pin-
ched and whether the pump is filled
with water. Restart the set once the
anomaly has been corrected.
