At the end of the process, if the pro-

MEASURING SENSORS

Switch on the measuring sensors by
pressing the "Power" key on the keypad
(fig. 18). The green LED indicates that the
measuring sensor has been switched on.
To switch off the measuring sensors,
press the "Power" key again.
The sensors can also be automatically
switched off ("auto switch-off") by a spe-
cial software procedure in the following
cases:
- if the equipment has been inactive for
about five minutes, with no communica-
tions between the measuring sensors
and central unit and no measuring sensor
key pressed.
- if the equipment has been inactive for
about ten minutes, with no angles ad-
justed and/or no head or central unit key
pressed.
- when the battery charge level falls be-
low the minimum value required for op-
eration.
Note
Each measuring sensor is powered by a
NiMH battery that is recharged by con-
necting the measuring sensor charge ca-
ble to the electrical connector panel (H,
fig. 2). The green LED on the head con-
nector lights to indicate when charging is
in progress.
The manufacturer declines all responsi-
bility for any damage caused by the use
of non-original batteries or battery charg-
ers.

Battery recharging procedure

Battery charging is managed directly
from the measuring sensor. The charging
cables carry 12V DC voltage directly from
the PC power unit.
The batteries may be charged by
connecting the sensors to the central unit
with the emergency cables.
The possible signals displayed by the
measuring sensor during charging are de-
scribed as follows.
• Green LED on: charging in progress;
• Yellow LED on: charging error;
• Both LEDs off and measuring sensor
working: battery charged;
• Both LEDs off and measuring sensor not
working: battery faulty or absent

Run down process

For good working and lengthy duration,
the NiMH type batteries, used in the
measuring sensors of the wheel aligner,
need to be periodically run down.
In the run down process, the four batter-
ies are completely run down at a constant
current and then charged again.
We recommend running down the bat-
teries every 15 - 30 days, depending on
the number of recharge cycles performed
(the more frequently the batteries are
charged, the more frequently the run-
down procedure is necessary). The run
down is effected by leaving the heads
switched on, on the head test page, until
they are completely run down.
Note
Rechargeable NiMh AA penlight batter-
ies are used. When fully charged, new
batteries will ensure 8 hours of continu-
ous operation.
