Crooked steering wheels
programme
This programme adjusts the toe values to
obtain a perfectly "straight" steering wheel
during road testing of the vehicle.
Select the item "Volanti Storti" ("Crooked
steering wheels") and confirm the choice
by pressing the Enter key, Fig.34.
Perform the various steps of the programme
as follows:
- press the F3
stage to the next one;
- position the vehicle as if a complete
measurement procedure should be car-
ried out;
- position the steering wheel as in the road
testing;
- position the steering wheel with the
spokes straight;
- adjust the half-toes until the values dis-
played on screen read zero;
- exit the programme.
At the end of the programme, the system
prompts for permanent saving of the cal-
culated compensation values.
Warning!
If the operator, having noted a systematic
error, chooses to permanently save the
compensation values, the system will
automatically apply the corrections to all
subsequent toe value calculations.

This is equivalent to modifying the calibra-
tion of the system, and should only be used
as a temporary measure while waiting to
perform a proper calibration with the cor-
rect procedures and equipment.
A special icon is displayed on the screen
indicating that there are active correction
values.
Selecting the "Annulla correzioni" ("Delete
corrections") option from the F11
menu deletes previously calculated cor-
rection values.
The following keys are active in this window:
F1 displays the on-line "Help" function
F2
goes back to the previous
screen
F3 (or Enter) goes to the next
screen
F11 displays the menu with the
relative functions.
These are the menu options:
• Start context (goes back to the starting
screen)
• Delete corrections (resets possible cor-
rections saved in previous procedures)
• Set-up (opens the contextual set-up on
the screen where you are)
• Help (recalls the Help screen relative to
the current screen).
