Safety instructions

The operations must be carried
out by electrical suitably trained in
hazardous area with knowledge of
increased safty explosion
protection IEC/EN 60079-14.
The built-in components GHG 41. are not
suitable for zone 0 hazardous areas.
The temperature class and explosion group
marked on the built-in components shall be
observed.
Modifications to the built-in components or
changes of their design are not permitted.
The letter "U" in the certification number
means that this component certificate may
only be used as a basis for the certification of
apparatus or protective systems.
The permissible ambient temperature range
and the self-heating of the apparatus, that is
mainly caused by the power dissipation are
to be observed to ensure that the operating
temperature range stated on the type label of
the apparatus is maintained.
The temperature class of the complete
installation or distribution is determined by
the power dissipation of all the built-in
modules and components.
Observe the directives for self-heating.
They shall be used for their intended purpose
and in perfect and clean condition.
For replacement and repair only genuine
CEAG / Cooper Crouse-Hinds spare parts
shall be used.
Repairs that affect the explosion protection,
may only be carried out by CEAG / Cooper
Crouse-Hinds or a qualified electrician in
compliance with the respective national
regulations.
Prior to their taking into operation, the
built-in components will have to be checked
in accordance with the instructions as per
section 6.
Observe the national safety rules and
regulations for prevention of
accidents as well as the safety instructions
included in these operating instructions set in
italics the same as this text!
Explosion protected built-in components

Conformity with standards

The built-in components have been designed,
manufactured and tested according to the state
of the art and to DIN EN ISO 9001:2008 and
EN ISO/IEC 80079-34:2011.
The built-in components are conform to the
standards specified in the attestation of
conformity, enclosed separately.

Field of application

The built-in components GHG 41. may be built
into enclosures in the type of protection
"increased safety" Ex-e (IEC/EN 60079-7).
When built into these Ex e enclosures, the
modules are suited for use in both Zone 1, 2 and
Zone 21, 22 hazardous areas in accordance with
IEC/EN 60079-10-1 and
IEC/EN 60079-10-2!
The enclosure materials employed, including the
exterior metal parts, are made of high-quality
materials which ensure a corrosion protection
and resistance to chemical substances
corresponding to the requirements in a "normal
industrial atmosphere":
- impact resistant polyamide
In case of use in an extremely aggresive
atmosphere, please refer to manufacturer

Application / Properties

The built-in components GHG 41. are designed
for the control in situ of electrical installations in
explosive atmospheres.
Adequately marked special versions of the
built-in components can be operated in
„intrinsically safe circuits" . The electric limiting
values applicable to „intrinsic safety" shall be
observed.
The respective details on the equipment with
electrical contacts are given on the component
bases.
Important: When using these built-in
components, the technical data and the
connection diagram on the type label shall be
observed.
The version fitted with gold-tipped contacts is
marked with a „G" (for max. current load see
Technical data).
In order to achieve a reliable isolation, the
normally closed contacts are designed as forced
break contacts. Where required, the bases are
fitted with 0.6 W resistors, fine-wire fuses and
diodes (max. dissipated energy 1 W).
The measuring instrument serves for the
indication in situ of electrical values. For the type
of measuring mechanism, accuracy and
connected version, see „Technical data").
When the switching collar on small control
switches is cut out at the respective locking
position, they can be padlocked (locking shackle
Ø up to 5 mm).
Ex 23 control switch actuator elements shall be
provided with a drilled hole of Ø 5.5 mm at the
respective locking position on their switching
collar and can thus be padlocked as described
before.
At option, the Ex 29 control switches are
provided with a fitted locking device so that they
can also be padlocked.
The 4 pole pushbutton contact can be added
with the standard CCH actuators. If the 4 pole
pushbutton contact is added with an Emergency
STOP Mushroom-head pushbutton actuator,
then you have to use the actuators with CCH
order number
GHG 410 1437R.....
This actuators can be recognize by the red thrust
washer and black inserting sign.
The data as per point 3 and 4 will have to be
taken into account with the use.
Applications other than described are not
permitted without CEAG / Cooper Crouse-
Hinds's prior written consent.
For the operation, the instructions stated in
section 7 of the operating instructions will
have to be observed.
6

Installation

For the mounting and operation, the respective
national regulations (e. g. Betr.Si.V, equipment
safety act) as well as the general rules of
engineering will have to be observed.

6.1 Mounting

The modules can be mounted by snapping them
onto a DIN rail or screwing them onto an internal
mounting plate (Test torque 2.5 Nm).
When mounted directly onto an internal
mounting plate, the enclosures shall be fixed in
such a way that they rest evenly on the fastening
points provided for this purpose and that they
cannot turn.
The screws used shall match the fixing hole (see
dimensions drawing) and shall not damage the
hole (e.g. use of a washer).
If the fixing screws are overtightened, the
apparatus may be damaged.
