During machining, this clamping
screw of the slider and the adjuster
nut must be clamped by the clamping
piece. This clamping must be applied
before and after every precision
adjustment procedure.

The scale
of the adjustment spindle is
arranged at 90° to the tool holder. Only
one wrench is needed to operate the two
functions. In the case of boring tool
401 011 (404 011), clamping is carried
out with two clamping screws.
Do not carry out precision
adjustment of the diameter in
the clamped condition! Do
not use force during adjust-
ment! Otherwise adjustment parts will
be damaged.
The brushed chromium-plated scale
allows accurate reading of the precision
diameter adjustment. The adjustment
parts are provided with a travel limitation.
Coarse adjustment is carried out in the
same way as setting the insert holder for
rough machining.
For precision adjustment, proceed as
follows:
1. Slacken clamping screw
2. Set the cutting edge by rotating the

scale
to the diameter. One division
on the scale represents an adjustment
in diameter of 0.01 mm (Ø .0005").
Smallest readable value with vernier
0.002 mm (Ø .0001") in diameter. One
clockwise rotation produces an in-
crease in diameter. For the precision
adjustment, a diameter adjustment of
±1 mm (±.039") is provided.
2.1. Increase diameter:
readjust scale to the required
value.
2.2. Reduce diameter:
Ascertain the value set on the tool
(Fig. 4a, example: scale value 21).
Turn back the scale by about half

corrosion-protection.
