ladder.
Lookfor a spacefreefromobstacles and dangers.Makesurethat
the spacewill allow properinstallation and useof the atticladder.
Make surethatthe lengthof the attic ladder is suitablefor your
ceiling height (Figure4, Table I).
STEP
Choosepotentialinstallationspot. Checkdimensionof the required
opening,referto thetable 2 on page5.
Iftheatticladderwill be installed inthegarageconsider t helocation
of parkedcars.

Checktheswingclearance.Figure 4 and Table1.

Checkthelandingspace,so thatboth legsreston thefloor.Figure
4 Table I.
STEP 4
Iftheatticladderwill fitbetween theceilingioists andthereisnoneed
for cuttingthe joistsproceedaccording to step 7 "Framingthe
n installatio opening"Page7-9.
If it isnecessary t o cuttheceilingioistproceedaccordingto step6
"Cutting the ceiling ioists" Page6.
STEPS
Go in to the atticspaceand locatethespotfor installation.
YO U can find thislocationby listeningfor tapping from below or
measurethe space below and in the attic area.
STEP 6
Inthe installation spotYOU ShOUld d o thefollowing:
a) checkif thereisenoughroomto work duringtheinstallation
b) make sure there are no obstacles (ie. air ducts, electrical
, installations etc.)intheatticareadisabling safeinstallation anduse
of the attic ladder.
In order to check the attic area for the above mentioned obstacles
anddangers putona dustmask, s afetygoggles, g loves and proper
clothes to prevent c utscaused
the layer of insulation,do not in ale dustand other particleswhich
mightbedangerous to yourhealth.
STEP 7
Ifin thechosen spotyoufind anyobstacles, you should findanother
spotfor installation or contact professionals to remove theobstacle
(referto yellowpages).

For your ownsafetydo notsiton theceiling northe insulation -
it was not design to carry load. Only the ceiling ioistscan
withstandyour weight. Mind sharp nails stickingout of the
ceiling'sconstruction.Do not nail anythingin to theceilingthat
can conductelectricity untilyou are surethat thereare no electric
wires. Contact with electricwires can be deadly.
