Measurethe lengthof the stringer"NN"betweenthe cros9beams

STEP2
Cut the stringer to size. Use timber similar in size to the existing
ceilingjoists.
STEP3
If the joistsdo not makeup the othertwo sidesof the frame,you
needto installonemorestringer o f thesamelengthasbefore. On
Figure 18 only one stringeris neededbecausethe ceiling joist
makes up onesideof theframe.
STEP4
n Positio the stringer(or stringers)along the unframedside if the
ceiling opening (Figure 19). The insidedimensions of the frame
shouldbe equalto theceilingopening(seeTable2 on Page5).
STEPS
In orderto install s tringers t o the headers you shouldusenailslong
enoughto go throughboth crossbeamsand enterthestringerat least
" Inmost c ases it should be 20d nail4" long. Square thestringer
and drive 3 nails at each end through the double header. Both
d measure dimensions should bewithin1/8" to consider t hemequal.
