5.1.1
Starting up
Connect the amplifier module to an IO-Link master using a cable suitable for IO-Link
communication. If the measurement uncertainty requirements are very high, we
recommend warming up the measurement chain for 30 minutes.
If the corresponding connection of the IO-Link master is configured for the IO-Link
operating mode, the master reads the basic device parameters from the measurement
chain. These parameters are designed to automatically establish the communication and
identify the measurement chain. In this state, the sensor transmits process data cyclically
and automatically to the master in accordance with the Smart Sensor profile,
supplemented with application-specific information.
Please follow the instructions for the IO-Link master, and for the software you are using.
The device description file (IODD) of the measurement chain contains all the settings for
configuring the measurement chain according to your requirements (scaling limit value
switches, filters, application settings, etc.). You can download the IODD from the official
IO-Link website (https://ioddfinder.io-link.com) if necessary. To do this, enter the
manufacturer's name (Hottinger, Brüel & Kjaer) and the designation LCMC with the
corresponding maximum capacity (e.g. LCMC 10KG) in the search field, then load the
IODD into your application.
Alternatively, you will find a description of all objects in these instructions, enabling you to
program and set up your application without an IODD.
The data is transferred between the amplifier module and the IO-Link master in the
IO-Link M-sequence format TYPE_2_V.

process data
The measurement value and control state of the limit value switch, as well as warnings
(see below) are transferred using the six process data bytes PDin0 to PDin5.
The measurement data is in the first four bytes (PDin0 to PDin3). The measurement data
is transferred in float format. The transfer is completed with every cycle; the cycle time is
dependent on the master and parameterization that is used.
Typical latency times from the change in weight until analysis by a PLC are between
3 and 10 milliseconds (dependent, among other factors, on the IO-Link master, fieldbus
and PLC being used) if the filters in the electronics are disabled.
