Structure and mode of operation

The pressure transducers of the BlueLine series (5000 bar, 10000 bar, 15000 bar)
are suitable for measuring the static and dynamic pressures of fluids.
The P3MBP BlueLine was developed on the basis of HBM's years of experi
ence in high-pressure technology. Since 1970, the devices have been suc
cessfully working on the P3M principle, with a nominal (rated) measuring
range of up to 3,600 bar.
Numerous devices have proved their worth in dynamic use.
We are now expanding this series up to high pressures with the 5,000 bar
nominal (rated) measuring range and continuing with devices with a measuring
range of 10,000 bar and 15,000 bar.
The P3MBP BlueLine is suitable for dynamic use:
• The measuring body consists of proven, ductile steel.
• The P3MB measuring bodies for higher pressures with their threaded con
nector are made from a single piece of rolled steel - there is no welded
seam or other type of seal or joint.
• The chosen output signal is so great, that the amount of effort required to
perform measured value adjustments remains reasonable. On the other
hand, the chosen output signal - and the respective stresses and strains - is
so small, that dynamic loading is possible (without premature signs of mater
ial fatigue).
• All fluids that do not corrode these steels are a suitable measurement
medium. The pressure transducer is attached by its threaded connection
piece for the pressure connection and can be mounted in any position. In the
individual case, follow the actual instructions given in Chapter 3 "Installa
tion".
The properties mentioned are protected by FEM calculations and dynamic
loading tests.
The measuring body design mentioned, that has been chosen for all the
devices in the P3MB series of measuring ranges 500 bar and greater, gives the
P3MB a high standard of safety.
Years of reliable use under dynamic load and in rough operating conditions
provide practical evidence for the safety and robustness of the P3MB design.
Strain gages (SG) are fitted immediately below the measurement aperture.
They are interconnected to a Wheatstone bridge and are located in a hermetic
ally sealed reference chamber, to protect them from the harsh ambient condi
tions. The reference chamber is made of stainless steel. This means that even
if the operating conditions continue to be rough, the reliability and precision of
the transducer are assured
