Air Agitation (Forced Electrolyte Circulation System)
Required additional equipment
Battery:
Air supply tube for each cell, t-pieces, piping and hose coupling.
Charger:
Integrated pump with pressure control to switch down the charging factor from 1.20 to
1.05 – 1.07.
Functionality:
From the start of the charging process dust-free air is fed into each cell through the air
supply tube. The airflow ensures mixing of the electrolyte and prevents acid stratifica-
tion.
Construction:
The charger with integrated pump provides the required air pressure to feed the air
stream through the piping, the t-piece and the air supply tube into each single battery
cell. There are two ways to connect the pump to the piping of the battery: Direct cou-
pling of the pump hose to the piping of the battery or using a plug system with inte-
grated air supply coupling.
Pump:
Depending on the number of battery cells the output of the pump is 800, 1,000 or 1,500
L/h. The pump itself is maintenance-free, but the air-filter must be changed between
2 and 3 times per year, depending on the degree of dust-contamination of the air. If the
air stream in-between the service intervals is reduced, the filters should be checked and
replaced if necessary.

Connections:
The pump has two hose connections with an inner cross section of 6mm. These are
combined via a y-piece to a supply hose with an inner cross section of 9mm. This hose
passes along the wire to the plug. The integrated connection on the plug ensures that
the air stream is passed on the battery side. It is essential to make sure that the air
supply hose is not bent.
Pressure monitoring module:
The pump is activated right from the start of the charging process. It will be checked
automatically if the required pressure is reached. If there are any incidents such as no
connection of the pump to the battery, leaky hoses on top of the battery or a blocked air
inlet filter, a malfunction message is displayed.
Attention:
If an air agitation system is not frequently used or the battery is used in areas with high
temperature fluctuations a creeping of the electrolyte along the air agitation hoses is
possible. To prevent this acid migration, a separate coupling system has to be installed:
Sealing coupling on the battery side and thru type coupling on the pump side.
