4.3 PTO

The rotovator has a bottom and top PTO.
If implements that produce a great deal of inertia (e.g. lawn mowers,
brush-wood choppers, etc.) are connected to the PTO, it is advisable
to use a cardan shaft transmission with "free wheel" device. As it
prevents drive from being transmitted from the implement to the machine, this
device allows these latter to immediately stop as soon as the clutch is
depressed.

4.3.1 Bottom PTO

Use this to couple to the cultivator, pumps, etc.
Before engaging the PTO, disengage the clutch by pulling in lever n.6 fig.1.
Lever.4 fig.1 is used to give the following PTO speeds:
• independent: 892 - 546 Rpm with engine at 3000 Rpm.
• synchronised: wheel/PTO revolution ratio - 1:4.1
To hitch to trailers with drive wheels, put lever n.4 Fig.1 in "synchronised"
position: this gives you 6 speeds synchronised with the gears.
Turning direction: anti-clockwise for the forward gears
Turning direction: clockwise for reverse

IMPORTANT The rotovator is fitted with a safety device that prevents
the reverse being engaged when the PTO is working during normal
driving direction (cultivating).
Therefore, before engaging reverse, put the PTO in neutral (lever n.4 fig.1).

4.3.2 Top PTO

This works at 3 speeds without specific controls: the Slow - Fast - Reverse
range select lever (n.5 fig.1) can be used to operate the PTO when the machine
is stationary or moving.
For operation that require the machine to be stationary (centrifugal irrigation
pump) put the gear select lever n.7 fig.1 in "NEUTRAL" and the Slow - Fast -
Reverse range select lever n.5 fig.1 in one of the 3 possible positions (see also
Fig.3):
• RM
1402 Rpm turning direction: clockwise
• L
683 Rpm turning direction: anti-clockwise
• V
3000 Rpm turning direction: anti-clockwise
These speeds are generated with the engine at 3000 Rpm.
